5.0 out of 5 stars Great Help for New Peachtree Users
Making the jump to Peachtree from Quickbooks was difficult -- not only does Peachtree do things differently than QB but it assumes and demands more accounting acumen than QB -- and I found I needed help to get everything working for my small company. Peachtree is not the friendliest piece of software I've encountered and this book helped me "tame the beast". I would...

3.0 out of 5 stars Useful, but updated edition needed
I bought this out of desperation--there is NOTHING ELSE OUT THERE, at least nothing worth using for learning Peachtree. AVERAGE usefulness for a help-me-I'm-dying guide.

Can be used for a read-through tutorial, but I suggest this only if you are extremely stupid and accounting-illiterate and very bad at navigating self-explanatory computer programs. I'm 17...

I would recommend it to anyone who is starting to use Peachtree or even considering Peachtree for their business.

3.0 out of 5 stars Useful, but updated edition needed, May 4, 2007
This review is from: Peachtree for Dummies (Paperback)
I bought this out of desperation--there is NOTHING ELSE OUT THERE, at least nothing worth using for learning Peachtree. AVERAGE usefulness for a help-me-I'm-dying guide.

Can be used for a read-through tutorial, but I suggest this only if you are extremely stupid and accounting-illiterate and very bad at navigating self-explanatory computer programs. I'm 17 and have only been doing this accounting thing for 6-7 months, and was totally able to skim/skip the first 3 1/2 chapters.

Don't get me wrong. I needed this book. It simply works better as an index-reference tool (although I will warn you, the setup of the book is unusual, and you will probably need to reference 2-4 different places each time you have a question).

The only thing that really bugged me was that the book is somewhat outdated and needs to be re-vamped. This book was last revised in 2004. I have Peachtree 2007 Pro. In some places, the navigation (Go Here--> Click here) was not applicable to my version of Peach and I was left on my own to find the phantasmic feature.

WOULD RECOMMEND. Although finding the exact info you need can be tricky, it's certainly faster than trying to find the answer yourself or, even worse, online.

1.0 out of 5 stars Don't even bother, August 16, 2005
This review is from: Peachtree for Dummies (Paperback)
Peachtree for dummies is no better than the user's guide that comes with Peachtree. I'll give anyone my copy so they don't waste their money on it. Its basically theuser's guide, but paraphrased. It really explains absolutely nothing.

4.0 out of 5 stars Peachtree for Dummies, November 9, 2006

The book takes the technical users manaul and puts into a much more understandable format. The step by step process flows are very helpful. Again, Peachtree for Dummies removes the techie language and adds plain english. All in all, well done.

5.0 out of 5 stars Peachtree for this Dummy, June 21, 2009

I have been a reluctant Peachtree user for the past 3 years mainly because I was introduced to the system as a user task by task as part of my increasing job duties rather than in a comprehensive way or through taking a user class. Consequently, I have had a difficult time figuring out what to do when problems arise or a new task is required. Then I got Peachtree for Dummies and my work-world changed. I'm able to accomplish tasks quicker, more efficiently and with an understanding of how the system integrates, one function effecting another. Using the book has also been invaluable in "problem solving" which has been a huge savings in time and energy. I had to refer to this book frequently over the past year as my bookkeeping tasks increased, and now that I'm more "up to speed" I still keep it handy and use it as needed. I bought a copy for our company headquarters which is located in another city and they're really pleased with the book as well.

5.0 out of 5 stars Peachtree made easy, April 13, 2005
This review is from: Peachtree for Dummies (Paperback)
Peachtree for Dummies is an easy way to learn the basics of Peachtree Software. The book is laid out in a logical order and troubleshooting problems is a simple. I would recommend this book to anyone who is starting out in Peachtree or has just a small working knowledge of it.

4.0 out of 5 stars Peachtree for a real dummie, January 20, 2011
This review is from: Peachtree For Dummies (Paperback)
While unable to cover everything, the book did touch on much of the information I needed to get started. I still stumble through Peachtree Sage. My business is small, just me, so I have to devote my time to other aspects of this business - sales mainly. As time goes by, I hope to spend much less time on the bookkeeping and more on developing sales.

Pretty good book. I am waiting also for the "On Demand" book on Peachtree. "On Demand" books seem to be the best. The "Visually" books are very good too. But "On Demand" Books go more in detail with easy to understand explinations. So - "Dummies" book on Peachtree seems to be the best so far.

PeachTree software for accounting professional is losing out to QuickBooks. As an instructor to find a textbook for PeachTree, this book is the only one. It seems easy to follow. But some of the exercises are outdated, due to the new version of PeachTree. Overall it is not a bad value.
