Better Optional Available,
This review is from: Peachtree By Sage Premium Accounting 2007 (CD-ROM)
I don't normally write reviews for software, but feel compelled to do so in this case. If you're looking for an accounting package, you may be better off trying a different product. I'm an IT Manager for a small company that current uses Peachtree Accounting as their primary accounting package. We have about 7 employees that need regular access to our Peachtree database, however the package that we have currently limits us to 5 users, with no way to upgrade other than purchasing Peachtree Quantum at $3950, with no upgrade option. Where as the Peachtree Premium Accounting 2008 with 5 users is $1099.00. How do they justify a $3000.00 difference for five more users? Obviously, Sage Software is leveraging it 30 years of making accounting software to force long time users into buying packages / features they don't need. This doesn't even touch on the numerous problems that we experience almost daily with this software. Thus far calling customer service has been a joke, with hold times approaching an hour. Most of the representatives I have spoken to have been rude with an unwillingness to help with our problems. Some of the crashes experienced daily are: Crashes to the Desktop, Locking Users Out, Not Releasing Client Seats after Exit and Loosing Custom Reports. Performance is also sluggish, I'm asked on a daily bases what we can do to speed it up, however some of this may be due to the size of our company file. In summary, if you're looking for a new accounting package, you may be better off with another package. In the case of our company, we would switch in a heartbeat, except that Peachtree is what our accountant uses.

rather capable SME accounting software; some rough edges,

my clients note that for cash receipts, Ptree premium will not use the entered journal description on the cash side, only on the revenue side. So the GL cash account says "cash receipt" -- rather not informative for a debit in the cash account; of course it should use the c/r description from the revenue description line.BTW, the "behind the scenes" journal detail should allow changes to the description on the journal. This is the most comfortable place for the accountant to make such changes. Competitive systems allow this functionality. Ptree is generally ahead of the new Msoft offering, but not here, where it matters to the accountant. I install software for a living

Peachtree 2007 Software,
This review is from: Peachtree By Sage Premium Accounting 2007 (CD-ROM)
I was very satisfied with the software I purchased through Amazon.com. While I contacted Sage directly to get a replacement cd for the one I originally purchased and misplaced, they told me that they no longer had the 2007 version cd. They wanted to me to upgrade to the 2010 software which would have cost me over $1,200.00. Thankfully, Amazon.com had the 2007 version I needed and cost me much less and it worked perfectly for what I needed. Therefore, I suggest that everyone check Amazon.com before purchasing anything. Thanks Amazon!!
