This journal is elegant. It also fits in my small nightstand drawer easily.
I purchased this on the above recommendation and I am glad I did.

Please see some of my other reviews (especially my black 'n red review) to get a sense of my stationary experience.

Overall a well made journal.

- Good acid-free and lignin free paper (a must, please do not buy any journals without these minimal requirements for anything you plan to keep more than 5 years, see black 'n red review).
- good binding, book opens flat to any page including first, last, and middle.
- thick paper, not much bleeding even with dark, heavy ink.
- overall well put together, although not the best-assembled journal I've ever seen its passable in light of its other features.

All told, its a solid book to use as, say, a cookbook, or other tasks that would benefit from the hard thick covers, dimensions, and paper thickness.

This is a beautiful journal that is even nicer in person than it is in the photos. The inside cover is dark green, the edges of the pages are gilt and there's a green ribbon attached to hold your place. The paper is cream colored and faintly lined, as are all Peter Pauper journals. It's nice and thick so that you can use any pen you like without worry of the ink bleeding through. I liked this one so much that I bought another for fear of it being discontinued before I have a chance to use my first one up.

I get a journal for each grandchild as he/she is born. I write in it periodically and plan on giving each as a future graduation present from High School. I looked around for quite awhile for the right one. My husband loves peacocks so thought this was a good choice in honor of "Grandpa". I was very pleased with the size of the journal - nice sized pages and plenty of them. Also, the construction seems very nice, with some extras such as extra leather peace on four corners and nice leather for the binding. The pages are a nice thickness. The guilded edges and the ribbon book mark top it off just right, making it have that "special" look. For the price it was quite the bargain for a very nice "gift" quality journal.

This is a lovely journal book with a sturdy cover, gold on the page ends that you see when the book is closed, and paper of a little heavier stockthan most blank books. I have only one complaint to make: the lines on the pages are too faint to see while you are actually writing and seem to serve only to let you see how very far you have wandered off the straight.
