A beautiful tribute to a beautiful bird,

The term "peacock" really only applies to the males; females are "peahens," and the entire family is referred to as "peafowl." So, the book PEAFOWL OF THE WORLD is about the different breeds of those beautiful birds commonly known as "peacocks." This is a beautiful and insightful book, and I believe that it is a must for anyone interested in peafowl. It is perhaps *the* classic of this somewhat obscure genre. It contains many hand-drawn illustrations of peafowl, as well as maps of where they originate from. As the book details, most peafowl are from Asia, but there is a species from Africa as well, the "Congo Peacock." If you are interested in peafowl, I would recommend buying this book, or at least checking it out at the library. |
