5.0 out of 5 stars Great customer service
I received the earlier version of this product (PKC0BL) about a year and a half ago for a gift. Just recently the air compressor stopped pumping air. It still ran, but would not inflate. I called 1-800-477-5847 to see what options I had since the 90 day warranty was over. Even though the warranty had long expired, they sent a new one to me at no cost. Now that is customer...

1.0 out of 5 stars Disappointed!
I purchased the Peak Jump Starter for mainly one feature, the audible low battery warning. Unfortunately the unit was designed poorly causing me to get stuck with my car because the audible alarm did not sound when the battery level in the jump starter dropped to 25%, a level too low to jump start he car. When I called tech support, even they did not know about the flaw...

5.0 out of 5 stars my peak time was great, April 17, 2011

I researched this type of item for weeks hoping I would choose the right one; so far I feel like I made the right choice. It has performed perfectly since I got it. I have aired my yukon tire up (6-8 min.), I jumped my boat off for the first time this season, and I played the radio all day out on the lake, so I have to give it 5 stars. If you realize it has its limitations and dont try to exceed those limitations this will be one of the handiest items you ever purchase.

The battery charged the first time. We used the DC outlets. When I tried to recharge the battery, it only partially charged and lost this charge overnight (without use). I've tried a couple of more times to charge it, but the charge does not hold.

I am very disappointed in this product. Since it cannot be returned to Amazon, I have to contact the manufacturer to file a claim. Prices of battery jumpstarters on Amazon are good, but since they can't be returned, you have to hope that you are one of the lucky ones that gets a battery that works.

UPDATE: The manufacturer's customer service was wonderful. They immediately offered a replacement battery at no shipping cost. The replacement battery has worked perfectly. I've used it several times, re-charged it and it has been great, lots of power. I am now happy with the product, wish the first one had worked.

Unit works well and has many nice features. Excellent AC power unit for short camping trips. Mine was missing a part and Amazon did a great job correcting that issue.

4.0 out of 5 stars Worked great--when it worked..., September 19, 2011

I purchased a Peak PKC0BK 450 Amp Jump Starter in June. I used it twice to power music on the beach, because I teach Zumba Fitness Classes. The power gauge has stopped working--it only shows 75% at most, and the 120 VAC plug no longer works--the 24 VDC in the front does. I have only used this twice. I am trying to get help from customer service but I am 8 days out of warranty and I cannot get a human on the phone... will correct if they help me...

UPDATE!! Got a human on the phone and he says he will send me a replacement---will update in a week....

1.0 out of 5 stars Disappointed!, January 25, 2012

I purchased the Peak Jump Starter for mainly one feature, the audible low battery warning. Unfortunately the unit was designed poorly causing me to get stuck with my car because the audible alarm did not sound when the battery level in the jump starter dropped to 25%, a level too low to jump start he car. When I called tech support, even they did not know about the flaw in the unit and sent me a replacement. When that unit failed the same way I asked them to bench test a third unit. Many weeks passed & only then did they discover that the alarm does sound but at a level of between 0-10% of battery charge. This problem makes the alarm feature useless because a charge level of about 50% is needed to jump start the car. When I discussed this issue with the tech department at Peak, they seemed puzzled by the whole thing. This unit needs a redesign to become useful and if you are buying it for the alarm feature as I did, I would forget about it.
