Book Description

May 1, 2000
For serious students of the game who are struggling to improve their overall performance, this unique guide teaches intermediate to better golfers how to get the most out of their abilities and lower their scores. Patrick J. Cohn's Peak Performance Golf emphasizes a multidimensional approach to training and overall preparation--the same type of program several PGA Tour pros have used to reach their personal peak and maintain consistently high levels of performance. Peak Performance Golf outlines eight specific areas that every serious golfer should incorporate into his or her game, from getting the most out of taking lessons, to learning sound practice habits, to integrating mental training, physical fitness, and good nutrition--all of which are as critical to success for weekend foursomes as they are for tournament golfers. This goal-oriented, practical plan enables serious amateur players to prepare like the pros and take their games to the next level without spending more time practicing than they do already. Patrick J. Cohn, PhD, is a leading sports and golf psychologist who works with golfers on the PGA, LPGA, and BUY.COM tours and heads Peak Performance Sports in Orlando, Florida. He is the author of The Mental Game of Golf and coauthor of The Mental Art of Putting.

3.0 out of 5 stars Peak Performance Golf, April 26, 2000
By A Customer
This review is from: Peak Performance Golf (Paperback)
Dr. Cohn does a good job of separating good players and their difficulty in improving from high handicappers who see more improvement faster. For a long time, good players have wanted a plan to actually see improvement, and Dr. Cohn lays out a pretty good plan in this book. The strong points are the practice plan, but the nutrition and mental approach seem hard to follow. Overall, this is a good planning guide for better players who want to see improvement.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great Training Guide for Good Golfers, March 30, 2001
By A Customer
This review is from: Peak Performance Golf (Paperback)
What a great book for golfers who can play well but want to get better with their practice and preparation. I loved the drills for developing touch on the greens and how to master your short game practice. The stuff on course management was also very helpful to my game. A must read for good golfers who want to get more out of practice!

5.0 out of 5 stars THE BEST GAME IMPROVEMENT BOOK EVER, February 17, 2001
By A Customer
This review is from: Peak Performance Golf (Paperback)
All golf books waste your time with 70% of the pages showing various parts of the golf swing. Not this one. This book is full of meat that allows those of us that are obsessed with golf (when you think about it more than sex) to do so. At any pro tournament, the range is laden with people working on their mental and preshot routines. This book lays down how to pinpoint the way you think and apply it to perhaps the only piece missing from your game. It gives you a no-nonsense plan to getting better. It's so laden with details that you almost have to attack each chapter over a long period of time to ingrain all the intent of the author. THE BEST, BAR NONE, GOLF BOOK TO GOING LOW.
