Peaking and Performing, November 5, 2011
This review is from: Peak Performance: Success in College and Beyond (Paperback)
Okay,I must admit, when I first came across Peak Performance I was in undergrad, struggling to make it through, and looking for something, anything, to give me an edge.
Then I found and read Ferrett's Peak Performance. It blew my mind; It energized me; It gave me the structure pieces to puzzle my life, business and work approach together.
And that was only the second edition.
Forward to 2011. I'm through school, Masters degree in hand (Largely because of Ferret's book) and I find her book buried on my bookshelf. I go to Amazon, type in her name and BOOM! another addition has been written. Um, like, five additions as a matter of fact.
Seventh addition. "WOW, I'm five additions behind," I think. I buy it immediately.
I think my mind is about to be blown again...And the book doesn't disappoint.
Take a look at a few section themes:
Part one--be a lifelong learner; expand your emotional intelligence; manage your time; maximize your resources
Part two--Listen and take effective notes; actively read; improve your memory skills; excel and taking tests; express yourself in writing and speech
Part three--become a critical and creative problem solver; create a healthy mind body and spirit; build supportive and diverse relationships; develop personal habits; explore majors and careers.
517 pages(not including glossary and index) of usable, actionable, and info to enrich your life, work, and business.
Can you see why I kept this book (second edition) around. And, can you see why I fell over myself to buy the newest addition? Just the section content titles alone show you the good stuff that's coming--stuff you won't get in many text books, let alone on store shelves today.
Okay, I'm drooling now; but, while I can't tell you how Ferrett's Peak Performance changed my life, my work and the way I do business, I can tell you this: BUY IT TODAY.
And if you're thinking the publisher or Ferrett must have slipped me a couple of party favors to say this, let me turn those thought off now. They did not. I just have no problem giving an A+ when it's earned.
This book will earn an A+ from you as well.
