A great follow-up -- long overdue -- to the first volume a few years ago. And a great cause.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great CD - Great gift, November 30, 2009
This review is from: Peak Performances Volume 2 (Audio CD)
I'm a real estate agent and I'm giving this CD as a Holiday gift to all my clients. It's a great gift that appeals to a wide variety of people because the music comes from such a wide spectrum of artists. Maybe I'm a little biased, but the performances are great and you get a whole lot of music for $15. I also like that its charitable and organizations like The Food Bank for Westchester can really use a hand - especially this year.

Having listened to the dvd on the radio during the holiday season, I decided to make the purchase, as proceeds go to charity, in particular, the Sidewalk Angels Foundation, which was instrumental in assisting Pets Alive, a sanctuary in NY for abandoned pets. The music was varied in terms of artists. I have this dvd installed in my car.

I have a bunch of copies of Peak Performances, Volume 1, and I love it. I was a little worried that Volume 2 wouldn't be able to measure up, but it is just as good as the first. Every song is amazing.

I have played this CD in my car probably about 30 times and I am still not tired of it. I must look into getting Volume 1, and I look forward to the next.

5.0 out of 5 stars TRULY World Class Rock, November 26, 2009
This review is from: Peak Performances Volume 2 (Audio CD)
Peak Performances Volume 2

The second in a series of charity CDs produced by radio station WXPK/107.1 The Peak in New York's backyard, Peak Performances Volume 2 features 18 world class tracks recorded at ACME to benefit local charities. Each song was graciously donated by the artist himself to help those less fortunate in Westchester.

Grammy Award-winning producer Peter Denenberg has a golden ear and does an absolutely outstanding job engineering the sessions. The sound quality is the best you will hear on any live CD anywhere, EVER.

HIGHLIGHTS:
Rob Thomas does a brilliant version of "Her Diamonds" from his latest album Cradlesong accompanied by Matt Beck on acoustic guitar (who, incidentally plays a right-handed guitar strung for a lefty).

Davy Knowles and Back Door Slam will give you a new appreciation of the Fender Strat with their Peak Performance of "Come Home."

Listen carefully to Marc Cohn's "Listening to Levon" when, about 4 minutes into the song, he alters the original lyric and sings, "you're listening to 'Rag Mama Rag' on the Peak radio."

HIGHLY RECOMMENDED. Buy one for yourself and one for everyone on your holiday gift list. This is a limited-edition collector's item and when the last one is sold, there will be no more.
