Grest Work!,
By
This review is from: Peake's Commentary on the Bible (Paperback)
Peake's Commentary makes many textual corrections, usually siding with the LXX. An explanation of the meaning and theme of each chapter is given, which is very useful. One thing that I don't like is his adherence to the "Heilgsechicte" (salvation history) theory on the book of Genesis. Overall, however, this is an excellent, very original work. He does not try to placate the church or defend old erroneous interpretations. On the negative side the print is too small and the sentences are sometimes too long and the English somewhat outdated such as the spelling of "aetiological".

This is one of the finest works of its kind and is a must for the student. It is probably something that your Grandad treasured and will be treasured by your Grandchildren.
