Editorial Reviews

From School Library Journal

Grade 1-2?In this beginning chapter book, bunny Billy Hardy and everyone else in Bellville loves bells. In fact, Billy is the head doorbell ringer at Mr. Dingsley's Dingdong Doorbell factory. But customers start complaining; instead of going "Dingdong! Dingdong!," the doorbells suddenly go "Dongdunk! Dinkdang!" So people start buying Knockington Door Knockers from the Peanut Butter Gang of squirrels instead. To stop the loss of business, Billy sets out to investigate. He discovers that the Gang is clogging doorbells with peanut butter. The squirrels are arrested for peanut theft, and Billy saves Mr. Dingsley's business. Youngsters will welcome this satisfying, quick read, and they'll find the bell-filled, full- and half-page black-and-white illustrations enormously appealing.?Christina Dorr, Calcium Primary School, NY

From Booklist

Gr. 2. The comedy thriller comes to easy readers in a high-speed chapter-book farce about squirrels, gangs, and doorbells. Part of the Hyperion Chapters series in big clear type, it's a story about Billy Hardy, who works for the Dingdong Factory. He loves bells and sells them all over town, until the big bad squirrels put peanut butter in the doorbells so that customers will buy door knockers instead. In a rousing climax, Billy saves his boss from the squirrel kidnappers and rings the bells to call the cops. New readers will enjoy the action, the dingdong nonsense, and the fun with the sounds of words. Many pictures to come not seen in galleys. Hazel Rochman --This text refers to an out of print or unavailable edition of this title.
