5.0 out of 5 stars Great BIG peanuts cooked in Peanut oil.
These are really good peanuts and what I liked most is that they are low in salt, cooked in really peanut oil but most importantly NO yeast. A lot of peanut companies add yeast into there salt mix. I am happy to have found a great tasting peanut, grown in America that is yeast free. These are very low in salt however so please be aware of this. Once you get used to...

bleh...I ate them ...but they were sort of crunchy and not in a good way. I guess I'm not a peanut gourmand!

They are big and crunchy. Actually very crunchy with nice flavor.
I believe the "flavor packet" the one star reviewer was speaking about was the "fresh pax" drier agent...do not add it to the peanuts.

These were a really great deal on a Friday sale, so I bought quite a few cans for gifts for my husband's office. My only disappointment was that two of the cans were dented and not gift worthy. An email to Amazon had two replacement cans at my door in record time. So, I've been munching on the contents of the reject cans. I can't fault the peanuts. They're big and crunchy and not overly salty. The packet inside the can is NOT a flavoring packet!

5.0 out of 5 stars From a peanut loverExcellent!!! Big & Fresh!!!, August 18, 2009
This review is from: The Peanut Shop of Williamsburg Hand Cooked Virginia Peanuts in Large Colonial Style Drum, 40-Ounce Tins (Pack of 2) (Grocery)
From a peanut lover who,at 73 years young, has eaten her share of peanuts...the BEST. I was a bit skeptical beacause the price is so unbelievably low. I was afraid I had a 'pile full' of old stale broken pieces of nuts. What a pleasant surprise! BIG..almost huge...crunchy tasty nuts and not laden with a ton of salt. Eat some everyday. They are soooo good and good for you!

5.0 out of 5 stars Best Peanuts I've ever eaten., July 27, 2009
This review is from: The Peanut Shop of Williamsburg Hand Cooked Virginia Peanuts in Large Colonial Style Drum, 40-Ounce Tins (Pack of 2) (Grocery)
The nuts are huge. They use sea salt on them, so they are very low in sodium. Sea salt actually contains nutrients that are good for the body, so even people on restricted sodium diets can enjoy. Only 40mg of sodium per 2 Tbsp. They are very peanut-ty (i.e., FRESH!) Absolutely delicious. The price is reasonable, too.

These are as close as you can get to the nuts we used to buy fresh out of the hot oil at our local nut shop (about a hundred years ago) when I was young! And no - really fresh cooked nuts are NOT hard and crisp. They are just like these. The only reason I didn't give them 5 stars is that both cans were dented when received. The nuts, however are great. And just the right amount of salt, too.

I have all my teeth and I used to purchase fresh hand cooked peanuts from a company in Virginia (not this one) every year, so I know what fresh hand cooked peanuts taste like. These are pretty good as far as flavor go, but they seem undercooked to me. They are so hard that your jaw really gets a workout chewing them. If you are a raw peanut lover, these are for you. I found them exceedingly crunchy - I don't know what the other reviewer was talking about unless he/she has only had the Planters kind of "old" peanuts that taste like jarred peanut butter.

5.0 out of 5 stars Sounds like a peanut, smells like a peanut, tastes like a peanut, December 10, 2008

I purchased several cans of the Peanut Shop of Williamsburg Hand Cooked Virginia Peanuts of the All Natural variety and reviewed them with 5 stars. I then ordered several cans of these in the "drum" can and I'm confused because they appear to be the same wonderful peanuts. First of all, all cans have a paper label, not printed on metal cans of the past. Secondly, the ingredients on these do not say "expeller pressed" peanut oil, but simply "peanut oil." Thirdly, "sea salt" is simply "salt" on these cans. Lastly, these peanuts have another "super" before the "extra large" descriptor in the size of both. I think all these peanuts are the same, simply different paper labels on the cans and assorted production dates on the bottoms of the cans. A rose is a rose and a peanut is a peanut. When I called the company to inquire, I was told that, "Sea salt is a stronger taste than regular iodized salt." He went on to add that, "All the peanuts are exactly the same variety and they are prepared in the same hand cooked manner." Regardless, these peanuts make Virginia proud and I'm happy to share them with friends at Amazon's competitive prices! I'd recommend whichever are the lowest price and you can decorate the cans as you wish. I will.

I liked the taste of it. They are wholesome. I really enjoyed eating it. I still have three more boxes to go lol.
however when I got the package and when I opened it, the boxes were all dented and out of shape and was kinda disappointed, however that didn't affect the peanuts inside. so I give five stars to these nuts haha.
