Snoopy - The Musical: From Stage to Screen, June 27, 1999
This review is from: Peanuts: Snoopy the Musical [VHS] (VHS Tape)
This video is the animated special adapted from the play of the same title. It has great songs, a good cast, and of course, Snoopy talking as a bonus. It's the greatest musical ever since "You're a Good Man, Charlie Brown".

I grew up with this movie and "You're a Good Man, Charlie Brown," and this movie never ceases to amaze me. The songs seem to get better every time I hear them. I love the songs, and everything else about it. "I Know Now" and "Edgar Allan Poe" are great songs. It's been ten years since I've first seen it, and I still love it as much as I did when I was a toddler. This is one movie I'll definately show to my kids when I grow up! One question, though--Is Snoopy's voice Matthew Broderick?

I originally saw this as the stage play, and I loved it. A few years later, I found out about this animated version by seeing it on Nickelodeon. It's not that bad. I don't think people who see it without having seen the original play realize that it's not supposed to be one coherent story. It's supposed to be little snippets of their everyday lives. However, I'm not happy about all that they cut. They only kept certain scenes. It's been a while since I saw the play, so I couldn't tell you which specific ones they left out. I just know that it felt too short. Anyway, it was very cute, but not as good as the stage play. If any of you ever get the chance to see the stage play, it'll be worth your while (even though it's still not as good as "You're a Good Man, Charlie Brown").
