4.0 out of 5 stars Italy's Best Kept Secret!, November 28, 2004

Elisa's new CD, "Pearl Days" takes a step back from her wonderful "Lotus" but it still retains it's own charm and warmth. The production is a bit more rock instead of ambience and that tends to hold her back a bit. I don't know if it is because she recorded this in the US instead of Italy. However, it is still Elisa and we all know what she is capable of.

Overall: 4 Stars.

5.0 out of 5 stars Live every day of your life... it's precious!, December 7, 2004
This review is from: Pearl Days (Audio CD)
Elisa has come back with her new album titled Pearl Days produced by American producer Glen Ballard. The result of this collaboration leads to ten songs ranging from rock vibes to beautiful ballads. If you already know what Elisa can give through her voice and through her talent you won't be surprised by this album but if you ignore the emotions she can give you will definetely be shattered by this Italian singer expressing herself in English. Elisa is brave when she shares her deepest feelings with us and you can feel some kind of poetry in her visions, as if every thought she could think of was there just to let you fly away. I love listening to each one of these songs, even if my heart is blown away by tracks as Pearl Days, The Waves, Life Goes On and City Lights. I also enjoy listening to the other tracks as Written In Your Eyes, Bitter Words, Joy, etc. Don't think Elisa is a new Alanis Morissette as she isn't. You would lose your chance to discover a great and pure talent if you thought this thing. In my opinion Elisa doesn't belong here.. and if you come across her music, you'll know what I mean!

3.0 out of 5 stars Good, in parts, February 14, 2006
This review is from: Pearl Days (Audio CD)
Although i think Elisa is an awesome, talented singer/songwriter i have to say i was slightly disappointed with this album. I found the songs were of a reasonable standard, but the poduction let it down for me. I found that because Elisa's voice is generally too loud in all the songs, and the effort that has gone into the music is slightly lost. On her other albums, i find the vocal sits in the mix a lot better and sounds more like part of the songs. I'm probably listening to the album with rather a technical point of view, but then, that's me! That said, i'm listening to the album 'Lotus' and it's absolutely awesome! I think that Elisa is one of the most talented female singer/songwriters i've had the pleasure of listening to. Elisa fans will pretty much enjoy this album, but from a sound production point of view i feel some potentially golden moments haven't acheived their fullest potential. Anyway, i'll leave on the note that i totally LOVE her other stuff.
