I actually purchased these from sierra trading post. they arrived today UPS. I never owned a pair before and first putting these on they are very comfortable. NOW THE FACTS;
1. I am 6-0 230 lbs w/ a 38.5" waist. The xl size I ordered are for 37.5"-41.5" These fit loose in waist and butt. The inseam about 32.5" . The tights cater more to the larger end of spectrem.
2. I used them to ride to work the same day I recieved them on 2-19 in Roseville Ca. I was caught up in "which did not expect" a downpour for approx 12 min. The pants kept me bone dry. Now I don't know how long they would continue to hold up in the rain hence these are just then facts.
3. That same day left from work at 6:00 PM which it had cleared up but chili. These pants were perfect warmth.I don't know the actual temp but you can google Roseville Ca. for 2-19 at 6 PM for yourself.
4. If you are looking for more waterproof and w/this comfort these are the Elite.They have the PRO series which claim better in both windproof/breathable waterproof/breathable. They also have the PRO wbx barrier which claim absoulte waterproof but for a pretty penny. Anyway I hope this helps!

These tights are great for staying warm in the winter. I've used them in the low 30s, and I suspect they'd be warm well into the 20s. Though, they're probably too warm for any rides of sustained effort above 40 degrees. They're definitely windproof, but I can't vouch for their resistance to water. I'm 6'1", 155 lbs, and the size small fits perfectly. I was a little worried they'd be too short, but that's definitely not the case. The tie at the waist band is sufficient to keep them from falling down, even after two hours on the bike.

I work on my bike about 30-35 hours a week delivering in Chicago. These guys keep legs and feet(with waterproof high top cycling shoes dry and warm even for 12 hour days. I'm 6' even and 120lbs 29" waist, and I spend about 30+hours a week in Chicago as a messenger. the small fit perfectly snugly. So I'm small and get cold quick, but I wear these down to 5*f. Generally I'll put on an extra pair of thermals under them for temperatures under 15*f, which will get me down to -10*f. the stirrups help pull the gaiter portion of the ankle over your shoes, and keep them there. They fit perfectly around the waist (high enough to give proper support, and low enough to use the bathroom comfortably). I have taken a spill or two too, and the asphalt has yet to damage my knees. Honestly I couldn't ask for a better pair of winter cycling tights.

I bought these specifically for the wind resistance while mountain biking.
I chose this version because all my bike shorts have the padding in them, so I just wear unpadded tights over my shorts.
I have another pair of Pearl Izumi tights, and they are warm, but have no wind barrier, so my legs are always cold below 50F.

I took these Elite Amfib Tights for a ride yesterday outside Atlanta. The temp was around 40-45 for the entire ride and these worked perfect. My legs were warm, and even though I was sweating, the tights didn't get soaked.

Great cycling and running shorts. It is made out of quality materials. It protects from the wind and just a great job of wicking moisture while keeping my legs warm. I rode in 40-45F and 15mph winds, and these tights kept my legs in the perfect zone. I would highly recommend this to anyone who is looking for a quality tight.

Let me start by saying that these are very warm. If you're into winter cycling in temps below freezing, these are great. I wore them in 8-degree-Fahrenheit weather the other day, without any baselayer, and they kept my legs warm.

I have a few pairs of various Pearl Izumi winter tights, each a little different. These particular tights run a little longer than the others I have in the same size, but that's not much an issue for my winter riding, since most of what I'm wearing is a little bulky or baggy anyway, compared to spring/summer/fall stuff.

These tights also have a different foot ankle area. There is no zipper at the bottom. Instead, the cuffs are a little looser and there are foot stirrups built in. I don't like the stirrups. They make getting the tights on a little more difficult, and I can feel them under my feet while I'm riding. Not sure why they're there in the first place, since I've really never had a problem with tights riding up.

On the other hand, the fact that the cuffs are cut a little looser than usual is a good thing. On my other PI tights, the cuffs are too tight to fit over the tops of my Lake winter cycling boots, so I have to tuck them in (which is uncomfortable) or leave them unzipped (which lets some heat out and allows the cuffs to flop around). These, though, fit perfectly over my boots. Loose enough to fit, yet snug enough to keep the cold out.

I think overall I prefer my other PI AmFib tights better, but I paid less than $90 for these on sale, which is a great value for the warmth they provide.

By themselves, these tights do me fine at 5-10 C (40-50 F), and with cross-country skiing thermal underwear too, I'd be comfortable out on a sunny day below freezing, even if stopping to fix a tire. The bits of wind-resistant shielding are well done for the goal. The ones I bought first are chamois-less, which I prefer in cold weather over shorts too, but I subsequently bought the chamois version (quite a bit more expensive!) to be better suited around 10 C (50 F). Good fit in XXL (6'5" and 220+ lbs), but tight through the knee, which is something to watch since pressure on the kneecap should be watched in cycling. OK, with care to pull the fabric into a bunch around the knee.
