These are good looking, well made socks, and have been great.

I've washed and dried them easily a dozen times and they look and feel brand new.

They keep my feet warm in 34ºF weather and that is about a cold as I ride.

I have two set of other wool riding sock made by Defeet and a LBS branded set, and the Peral Izumi are the winners.

Fit and Performance:
They are cut perfectly. They warp my feet and calves nicely with a thin layer of (soft) Merino wool that provides awesome warmth without being bulky in the shoes. Since they are so thin, if needed, you could throw a second set on for those extra chilly morning rides. The elastic is not too tight, so no gnarly sock marks are left. These do not hold onto water and I never end a ride with wet feet.

Listed sizes were true, for me at least.
Sock Size US Shoe Size
XL 10+
L 8-10
M 6-8

Wash and Drying
I wash them on a very short, extremely delicate cycle using non-additive detergent with my other riding clothes after each ride. I also dry them on delicate dry cycle for 10 minutes and hang dry, just like the rest of my riding clothes. I've washed and dried them easily a dozen times and they look and feel brand new.

Have 3 pairs of the socks and think they're a waste. I was expecting warm socks that are durable: they are sold for a sport, bicycling.

Instead
a) socks are small based on the sizing chart-I am a large. They fit my foot fine, but not my muscular calves~ there is not enough wool and they are too thin. A typical cyclist will have muscular legs... doesn't seem appopriately designed for a cyclist.

b) second time I wore socks a hole/run appeared at the toe/wool interface. It seems like the toe is nylon while the rest of the sock is wool. Thought they would be well made or durable, but a hole appeared on the 2nd wear. Probably it will be OK for a few more wears before the sock becomes unusable... disappointing

c) They are merino wool, but they are not appropriate for cold weather unless the shoe is especially warm. Fine for fall weather i guess.

My recommendation if you alread bought: wear socks with a suit, they look like dress socks.... but they why did I pay so much for these? hmmmm

These are a nice comfortable pair of socks and the sizing seems to be true to the chart in my experience. I bought these socks because they were wool and thought that made them thermal socks. While these are decently warm, they are not thermal socks. I later came back and found a different pair of socks by Pearl that were thermal socks. That said, I rode all winter with these socks and never lost a toe. On days where it got below 40 I did double them up and use some shoe covers, but my feet stayed plenty warm with that combination.

These socks are great, have worn them on 38 degree rides and 85 degree rides, my feet stay dry and comfortable. I've bought three pairs now and I'll probably buy more of the lower cut ones next.

They're pricey but worth it. Extreme comfort. These socks keep the sweat away from your skin and look great too.

Medium is for a size 6-8 foot. Really??? I had to return and buy the extra large for my size 10.5 foot.

Very comfortable and thin. Not quite as warm as I was anticipating, but thin enough to allow for layering. I wish my entire sock drawer was full of these!

After a few washes, little lint balls started to form all across the socks. Otherwise, nice tight fit, and warmth... quite slipper when walking on some surfaces (e.g. tile, hardwood floors) in these socks.
