These warmers fit true to size - Pearly Izumi has excellent sizing charts available on their web site. Additionally, even for those with skinny arms (I got size XS), the warmers are plenty long. I got these to replace my existing arm warmers (DeFeets) because my arms got a lot skinnier and my size M/L DeFeets wouldn't stay up any more.

When I got these, I wasn't completely familiar with PI's line of apparel types (Barrier, Thermal, Transfer, and Softshell), so seeing "barrier" in the title I expected these to be thick AND windproof. While they are windproof (this is what PI means by "barrier) they are fairly thin, so on extra cold days I find myself putting on a second set of warmers. This isn't too much of an issue, but I was hoping for thermal AND barrier (for those wondering, this would be the Softshell line).

When looking for new warmers, one of the other types I tried was the Gore windstopper warmers, as I had good luck with their beanie/skullcap. However, the Gore warmers were constructed of windstopper material the whole circumference of the warmer, whereas the PI warmers only have windstopper panels in the the front of the warmers. I didn't realize this before, but the windstopper fabric has no stretch, so around the elbows the Gore warmers were very uncomfortable and constricted my elbow with any movement. The paneled PI design allows for windblocking where it needs it, but allows for stretch around the elbow - as a result, I'm keeping the PI warmers.

In my experience, the warmers stay up well, and one of my expectations is that they will block rain better than what I currently have - though I haven't been able to test this yet.

I had the notion that these Pearl Izumi arm warmers were the same type of spandex material as my older ones. I was wrong, these are a bit more difficult to slip on/off. Once they are on, they are great and do the job they are suppose to do - but it is a process to orient them in the preferred direction of your arm.

It helps a lot that each of them are labelled 'Left/Right' to remember which warmer goes on the which arm.

Size wise, I prefer to go what a size larger to help with getting them on/off.

I am not an athelete but these are tremendous for my circulation. I wear them at night and no longer wake up with my arms not having any feeling. They fit snug but are easy to put on and take off.
