I was looking for a liner to wear under my regular pair of shorts.
Robert J Mason
It fits comfortably under my shorts, protects my butt, from the hard seat, the padding is very thick.
Big Dawg
This liner short is well constructed of very good materials, fits well and is very comfortable.

Before these, I tried another brand that would bunch up in every direction imaginable. These have grippy legs, so they don't ride up. The pad itself is great - it has padding where you need it, and none where you don't. This is important as it prevents bunching and discomfort. The liners are very well made, the waist band is very comfortable and substantial. You could get away with wearing these without an over short if you needed to. Highly recommended.

Butt and balls saver!!! I don't write reviews very often, but I really wanted to make one for this one.

I have looked after the reviews on this and it paid off. Used it for the first time this morning. First time I made a spinning class I could not stay seated for more than one minute.

Today I was able to stay seated for more than 5 minutes (spinning classes make you seat and stay up), it is amazing the difference this shorts made to me... and I am a over 320 pounds (for now). The XXL size fits perfect to me. Strongly recommend this.

I started biking for fitness 2 months ago. I started with standard cotton shorts and t-shirts. Once I was able to ride more than 10-15 miles, the cotton garments started showing their limitations. I was a little self-conscious about riding around in standard skin-tight riding shorts so I ended up purchasing Pearl Izumi Men's Canyon Short which came with one of these Pearl Izumi liners. The Canyon Shorts are, how should I say, more socially appropriate to me when I stop off in a gas station to grab some orange juice, or at a diner for lunch.

I ended up buying 4 of these additional liners as I bike 4-5 days per week. I put a liner on under the shorts and go for my ride. The next day I use a new liner with the same pair of Canyon shorts. Once a week I wash all of the liners and the shorts and I am ready for the next week. The liners are much cheaper than comparable stand-alone riding shorts so I saved a lot of money going this way.

The liners stay firmly in place while I am riding. The Canyon Short rides up my leg slightly over time but it's not a problem as a quick tug, or standing up on the pedals, every hour or so takes care of the problem.

The chamois is comfortable and seems durable so far. I have used some of the liners 5-6 times already and there is no pilling, tearing or other obvious degradation of the material. That being said, it does not feel like you are wearing a diaper, so walking around is not at all uncomfortable.

The liner and shorts are great at wicking moisture. Last week a did a 3 hour ride on a 98 degree day with high humidity. When I was done my skin was almost completely dry and the shorts barely felt damp.

I just started riding Road Bikes coming from Electra cruiser bike. As much as I love the comfort of the cruiser, I can't get my heart rate high enough. I am not quite ready to go biker shorts so this Izumi liner works great! It fits comfortably under my shorts, protects my butt, from the hard seat, the padding is very thick. I have already ordered more.

Bought these after many positive reviews.
Wanted a liner short for mountain biking that I could wear under any pair of shorts I chose. (See title)
This liner short doesn't disappoint. Have worn them on around 8 rides so far and they simply work. High quality materials, fast drying (even while wearing).
The chamois is sewn in well and is sufficient for my 12-20 mile trail rides over technical terrain with no chafing or bunching, plus the compression short gripping leg endings hold nicely in place.
I have a size 35 waist and bought the Large size.
Just don't put them in a dryer per the instructions. Air dry for longevity. I paid $28 two months ago. Go for it. Don't look back. I'll be gaining on you.

These are great shorts, I ended up getting three pair total because I liked the first pair so much. The padding is great because it works but its not so padded that you feel like you've got a load in your shorts when you're walking around. Also, the overall fit is great as it keeps the wedding tackle where it should be. Highly recommended.

This is an OK liner but far from fantastic.

- The fit is on the loose side. I am 6'2" 160lbs with a 32" waist (tall, skinny, and mostly legs). I ordered the medium as these almost always fit fine for bottoms. These are quite loose on me in the leg although the waist is fine. So loose that they shift a bunch when putting on my Pearl Izumi Bib tights (also medium but fit great).

- Also, the pad is just not up to expectations. I love Pearl's gear but the pad in these is SUPER basic. It has VERY little density and substance which makes it only marginally useful (and this coming from a former triathlete used to nearly non-existent "chamois."

Basically, these function satisfactorily but only just. I don't see them lasting very long and I undoubtedly will end up purchasing another make/model of liner that is better constructed and functioning.

FYI and FWIW - I am a very well seasoned cyclist who has used MANY brands and models over the years and many thousands of miles. I am in my 30s and I usually put about 10hrs/week in the saddle.
