Book Description

*Updated Version with epilogue*

Pearl, a married 30-year-old convenience store worker, longs for change and excitement. Believing she can find it in the purchase of a Mustang, she soon learns that her co-worker, Austin, a recent college graduate, offers the thrill she's missed out on.

When circumstances force the two apart, Pearl faces the difficult decision of repairing her marriage, thereby staying true to her religious beliefs, or disrupting her entire life to explore something life-changing.

4.0 out of 5 stars Accurate portrayal of a small-town woman's life May 19, 2013
Format:Kindle Edition
The ending seemed a bit rushed. Or perhaps it is that getting to the ending seemed to take so long. It would have been nice to be able to savor Pearl's new life after so many pages of her old one. Regardless, the book is well-written and chronicles the smallness of rural women's lives and options both accurately and eloquently.

4.0 out of 5 stars Predictable September 11, 2013
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
"Pearl" was the story of a young woman who felt trapped in a loveliness marriage. She found happiness once she met Austin but was afraid of the consequences if she followed her heart. Finally finding the courage to leave was long overdue. Although the book was predictable, it was a good story of a woman finding herself.

I really enjoyed this read. It mirrored life, and the decisions people tend to make...I found myself disliking Vern quickly and desiring to know more about Austin.
