Warning: NO FRONT ZIP POCKET!!! Could be a big annoyance if you care.

Waterproof: I got damp inside after an hour in constant light rain. The dampness was that you know it isn't dry, but you can't squeeze out any water and it doesn't bother you after 10 minutes. I call it a success!

I have faster than normal circulation, maybe 75% percentile, but certainly not 85%.

Upper temperature: Not comfortable above 40F, 45F at most with a short sleeve shirt inside.

----
It was 6F and gusty in the morning. I went out with a short sleeve shirt, a medium thermal, and the jacket. I was comfortable for the whole hour's ride. For your reference, I also put on a mask to protect the face, a medium base layer and a causal pant on the legs, and a pair of winter hiking boots for the feet. The only unsuccessful part was the gloves. I had a thin pair inside a pair of lobster gloves. Still cold and I had to do braking finger movements to make them a little warmer.

----
It was 22F windy when I started biking to work. I have one medium thermal layer inside. My one hour ride was quite comfortable except the initial chill, coming from the mesh strips under the arms. After a few minutes, I felt warm but not hot, airy but not cold draft, and I felt heat exchange with outside just at a perfect rate. At the end, the sleeves got a little bit wet, but not too much. It was a little warmer at 29F when I biked home and I didn't felt much difference, thanks to the excellent heat management design. Now, I don't want to return it, instead I look forward to sub freezing days because I won't get too sweaty and it is actually enjoyable.

I used this jacket on a ride at 45 - 52 degrees with a 9 mph north wind and it was plenty warm. I wore a Patagonia capilene 1 silk weight long sleeve shirt as a base layer and the combo worked great. My core was warm. I did sweat some and it seemed to breathe well. The thing I really like about this jacket is the wind breaking nylon, on the front side with close fitting jersey styling on the back. It fits like a jersey but is warmer. I am 6' 1' and 190 and the Large fit just right - snug. The sizing matches the guide and is typical for PI. Worth the money and I expect it would be warm riding down to about 40 easily.

I bought this for my son, who bikes 8,000 miles a year, just for pleasure! I don't know much about biking, except I want him to keep warm and stay well protected. He seems to have his protection gear down to a science, but he was very pleased with this jacket.
He says it keeps him warm, and it is not bulky. What more can you ask for?

I was at first hesitant about spending this amount of money for an insulated biking jacket. I figured I could find a cheaper alternative at a local sporting goods store. I was glad I went ahead with my purchase. This jacket keeps you very warm, wards off the winter wind, and has excellent ventilation. You stay comfortable without building up excess heat and sweating. I highly recommend this jacket.

I love this jacket. Fits great. Looks Great. It really provides great wind protection in the front and breathes in the back and keeps me comfortable on cooler days when the temperature is between the 30s and 50s, with only a long sleeve base layer underneath.

I am 5'11" tall, 150 lbs, with a 38" chest. The Large size fits me perfectly while wearing a base thermal top, fleece 1/2 zip pullover, and fleece vest. The front panels block the wind very well while the back and black sleeve inserts are breathable. Haven't used it in wet weather yet so I can't comment on its water resistance.

With temperatures in the 30F to 40F range, I am quite comfortable wearing this jacket. However, when it's in the 20's, I feel chilled until I've been riding for awhile. In windy conditions at 18F, I was warm enough though felt a bit of a chill on my back and arms. Still tolerable and definitely better than breaking a sweat at those temps.

Even though the Select series are PI's entry level jackets they are still well made with quality materials. While I am very happy with this jacket, it does have a couple of issues. The sleeves are too long and I prefer a velcro tab at the end of the sleeve as that works better with gloves than just elastic. Also wish it had a chest pocket. I always have a cell phone with me and would rather have it in a chest pocket as that makes it more accessible as well as less likely to get damaged if I go down.

Pearl Izumi products really are the standard of comparison.

The price for the same/similar jacket was less on Amazon's page but the safety orange color was not offered.

This is my third P. I. jacket. I have noticed, after a couple months use, that the elastic in the wrists is fatiguing and not as snug.

Be mindful to only open the wrist cuff just enough to slip the sleeve on and off and wash gently by hand in delicate soap and cold water.

Main thing: wear whatever you must to keep active.
