Book Description

A beloved San Francisco anchorwoman is found murdered in her palatial Nob Hill home, and detective Mac Fleet is assigned the biggest homicide case The City by the Bay has seen in years. The investigation leads to PEARLS OF ASIA, a stylish restaurant where the food and drinks are nearly as exotic as the waitresses. Mac crawls down a rabbit hole and comes face to face with the restaurant's uniquely captivating servers--and discovers a lifestyle full of drama, humor and high heels. As the case heats up, so does Mac's romantic interest in the primary murder suspect, whose exquisite beauty and fascinating personality compel him to cross the line between his personal impulses and professional responsibilities. Ultimately, the ruggedly handsome detective is moved to make a decision he never dreamed of.

5.0 out of 5 stars Honesty and Hope September 19, 2011

Reading Lee's book was...FUN! A mystery and a love story, in the context of the transgender world along with a San Francisco geography lesson. What more could you ask for? Let's face it, the transgender world is one that most of us are unfamiliar and uncomfortable with. Lee deals with this subject in a very open and honest way that inspires hope for the main characters and makes us think about our own lives. I'm sure the sequel(s) and movie will be just as engaging. Of course they will.

5.0 out of 5 stars GREAT fun to read!! September 8, 2011
Format:Paperback
Lee Geiger has managed to pull a hat trick with his first novel: he introduced me to a fascinating world I knew almost nothing about, he gave me memorable characters who come alive from the first time you meet them, and he set these in as engaging a mystery story as you're likely to find. For years I've been a fan of "The Marginal Prophet", Lee's blog on the world of finance, and he has seamlessly transferred his breezy, irreverent "Prophet" style to "Pearls of Asia". You say you're not into mysteries, not interested in learning about the transgender lifestyle, and don't need to meet any more memorable characters? Then read it just for the fun of it. I'm betting you'll end up like me -- hoping Lee's second book doesn't take him nearly as long to write.
