I received Pearls of Wisdom as a gift this weekend, my birthday weekend and proceeded to read it cover to cover 2 days later on a cold and rainy day. What an inspirational and thought provoking book. This book confirms that sometimes our life choices come from a very deep and private place that we personally are not aware of until later. I gave up the city life and traded it for the country, 10 horses, 4 cats, 1 very large dog and 1 very cute cowboy. One year later, I see it was the best possible tonic for my soul. Thanks to everyone who contributed to this book, but in particular, Lisa Labon, "Take a Sabbatical" who piece touched on some of the issues that compelled me to make my change!

What I love about this book is that I got so many pearls from it. I have read so much about meditation, yet I got a new wonderful take on it from Liz Byrne. I also got a new way to look at and love my home from Stephanie Bennett Vogt. This book is in the format of a new idea each day for 30 days and there truly is a pearl for everyone. Enjoy.

The premise of this book is the grains of sand, our irritating problems, force us to develop our pearl - that is, our wisdom.

Thirty different authors give their pearls. Some are more promotional, personal, inspirational, or intellectual. In other words, it's a mixed bag! Consequently it's hard to review accurately; you'll find different pearls shine out to your mind than I do.

I like Liza Bryne's pearl on pre-meditation. It's good Buddhist-style skilful means! I like the 5 second secret to relaxation because it made me laugh and relax, and made enema's seem amusing. I found Marci and Jack's contributions, which opened the book, affirmative, and I loved their words because I love those guys.

A mixed bag. Reach in and grab what you like.

I never felt really engaged within the Ideas presented. The stories linked to the Pearls lacked something for me. If you have never thought about wisdom or read a self-help or insirational book before you might like this book. At the end of each Pearl is the author's web site and information of their latest book. It felt more like a marketing group of authors trying to promote themselves, than laying out pearls of wisdom.

Pearls of Wisdom Book Review
Posted by R. Ann Rousseau

I love a true story don't you? When I hear leaders in the spiritual community use parables instead of real stories, it turns me off. I think, Nice story but I want to know that someone actually did make it to the other side of crisis, found the island of peace, prosperity and success, and lived to tell about it. Someone like me.

What I liked about Pearls of Wisdom 30 Inspirational Ideas to Live Your Best Life Now is that its a collection of real stories--stories about dealing with and overcoming the challenges of a 21st century life by some of our best inspirational authors.

I love this book because the narratives are succinctly written so those who have busy schedules can get a short burst of inspiration any time during the day. I couldn't put the book down. I sat and read it front to back but I could envision readers keeping this book by their bed and reading one chapter each night before they fell asleep--a good way to end the day.

Some of the authors who contributed to the book include Jack Canfield, who writes a piece called Inspired Action Gets it Done; Renee Baribeau, whose piece is called Creativity-The Recipe for Awakening; and Tami Gulland who wrote about Accessing Your Angels. There are 30 different authors and 30 unique stories all written by authors hoping you can learn through the wisdom of their experiences.

In a piece by Liz Byrne called Just Sit Down: A Premeditation Routine she writes, "I realized that my work, my writing practice in particular, was suffering because my brain was so busy. So there I was, trying to write, very frustrated, and looking for inspiration that just wouldn't come. So, then I said to myself: 'Just sit down and meditate.
