Book Description

When graduate student Isabel Palmer moves to her mother’s native country of Venezuela to finish her Masters degree, her grandmother presents her with a priceless piece of family history—the journal of her ancestor, a sixteenth century Spanish sailor.

Fascinated by the eloquent entries and romantic story within its pages, she begins translating the journal with the help of Archaeologist Manuel Santiago, which leads to a brush with romance and a search for stolen treasure. But the closer she gets to the pearls, the more danger she encounters. Her partners’ questionable motives and personal agendas keep her guessing about who she can trust right up until the expedition’s climactic ending.

5.0 out of 5 stars Loved This Story from the Beginning May 1, 2012
Format:Kindle Edition
And I do mean the beginning. I had the privilege of reading this story when Lisa and I were critique partners years ago and loved, loved, loved it then. I'm so excited to see it now polished and published. It's a story of love and intrigue set in a country I knew little about at the time. Her setting descriptions are breathtaking. I was sure she'd taken a quick trip down there to get it exactly right only to find out she'd done meticulous research and used such beautiful language to bring the beauty of this country right into my computer screen. This story won't disappoint!

5.0 out of 5 stars Wonderfully written! April 23, 2012
Format:Paperback
Lisa Mills does it again! She is my favorite new author! Lisa has such a wonderful way with words, weaving the story so I couldn't set the book down. Pearls takes you off the beaten path and into remote wilderness where the excitement and unexpected turns keep you devouring the book page after page. I would recommend Pearls to anyone.

I enjoyed reading this book. The trouble that they had trying to find where the pearls had been hide and who was doing all to stop them.

This was a good read. It's sometimes hard to find books without vulgar language, but this one provided good suspense without violence and offensive language.

The plot line was unique, and many of the spiritual and moral lessons were spot-on, but the writing was often condescending and cliched. Read more

4.0 out of 5 stars Great novel! Different from the usual
I loved this novel. There was the right mixed of romance, adventure, and intrigue. Don't believe I've ever read a romance novel also based in Venezuela.
