Another Solid Effort,
By A Customer
This review is from: Pearly Gates (Audio CD)
Jughead's Revenge continue to shine on their seventh full length release. It has great guitar as well as vocals and strong bass and drums to pull it all together. This album is probably the third best JR album and if you like it I suggest you check out "Elimination" or "Image Is Everything". Best Tracks:No Time, Lolita, Faust 2, Just What I Needed. Although these will probably change seeing as I've only listened to the album twice.

Punk!,

Jughead's Revenge pushes out a good album with Pearly Gates... it's good... but it lacks an umph that I can't explain. It has good songs... but the feeling just isn't all the way there. Over all a very good cd and will always be worth buying.

i saw these guys in calgary, and they blew the offspring and the vandals offstage."faust pt.2"(way better than the "short music.." version) is just awesome,as is "these valley streets" and "lolita","kill security now", and the final track, the cover of the cars "just what i needed",which is much better than the original, and sounds like it was written for them. the sound is standard 90's punk production, with blazing clear guitars.not much varity, but thats not what bands like this are here for.better than most of the skate-punk thats out there right now.the songs that dont stand out are not weak, and this is an album you can put on from begining to end.

Coulda Been Better,

Buying the New JR album I was sure it would be a decent effort and that it was although I like the reviewer before me feel something is missing. Songs like "These Valley Streets" and "Make A Wish" seem to be missing a key component that is found in most JR songs. There are also some songs that are quite substandard such as "Anthem", "Kill Security"(One For the Bouncers was much better off of Image Is Everything),and although "Reprise" has a cool guitar riff it should have remained just that a guitar riff. "Faust 2" although good seems to cheapen the original version seen on "Short Music..."comp. Songs like this give me the impression that this album was rushed and songs like "Faust 2" were only used to fill up space. Despite this criticism this album still gets five stars because of such tunes as the surf-punk"Swell",the intense"Rising,Rising"(reminescent of old school JR), and the amusing and down to earth "Lolita", and the speedy"Rent A Cop Blues". Although those songs rock the best songs on this album are "No Time", "Perfect", and "You Never Know". If you like this album you will love older JR albums like "Image is Everything" and "Just Joined" and possibly the material on BYO. Although this coulda been better its definitely worth the few measly bucks you gotta shell out to obtain it SO DON'T BE A TIGHTASS!
