Best all-in-one, but...,
By
This review is from: MusicMatch JukeBox 6.0 Deluxe (CD-ROM)
Among the all-in-one MP3 ripper/encoder/jukebox products out there, MusicMatch is definitely the best, imho. BUT, the extra features you get from the non-free, registered version is only a slight improvement. I really do like the program and did buy a lifetime upgrade for the deluxe version. And if you do buy it, download it from their website and buy the upgrade key...it's a few bucks cheaper. The only thing is, I don't use this application any more. There are lots of opinions on the best way to encode an MP3 and the one I agree with most, is the combination of the Exact Audio Copy ripper and the LAME encoder. General opinion on the Internet says that EAC is the best(most accurate CD ripper) available. PLUS, the LAME encoder, which is open source software, is considered to be the superior encoding engine. The only other codec worth a crap, is from the original creator of the MP3 compression scheme, Fraunhofer. That encoder is what is used in MusicMatch and Nero. The problem with those implementations is that it cuts off at 16kHz. Not the greatest for archiving, but if you don't care about getting the best sound quality, it's okay. For most people, it's hard to hear the difference between an MP3 encoded with MusicMatch and LAME (or any other encoder for that matter). What MusicMatch is definitely good at is doing it all, fairly easily. Encoding a CBR rip of my CD's is definitely faster with MM6.1 than the EAC/LAME combo. In the end, I still care about getting the BEST sound quality out of my MP3's and so I will stick with EAC and LAME(besides, they're free). I even paid for MM, but still choose not to use it.

I purchased it to record the old cassettes to CDs, but it did not work. And technical support was not very helpful. Ultimately I had to fall back on Windows Sound recorder, making me wonder why I purchased it.For ripping music from CDs to MP3s, it works just fine, though user interface is complicated unlike other software where you can just copy and paste the files. The retail version is costlier than the one available on MusicMatch site. I paid more for version 6, while version 7 was being sold on the site for less. Also there is no Software Update option available from the menu, though you can go to the site and down load and install new version. My suggestion is - try the free-download version and compare with trial version of other products, before purchasing it. Overall, I will rate it as average performing product with average price. Nothing to rave about!

The best out there!!,
By A Customer

Musicmatch is the best there is out there! It's so easy to make cd's and the online radio is the best that I've come across. This program is worth every cent. The user interface is so easy to use, and if you don't understand something, the program will take you right to their site to give you access to even more information. Also, there are skins that you can give your Jukebox, which gives it a more personalized look. I also really like the fact that I can save different playlists for use in the future.

Don't even think about asking for Tech Support,
By A Customer
This review is from: MusicMatch JukeBox 6.0 Deluxe (CD-ROM)
Feature for feature, this is an excellent product. And if it installs properly and works smoothly for you, you'll be very happy with it. But if you ever need technical support, you'll find yourself very frustrated. MusicMatch claims to respond to support requests from paying customers within 72 hours. But the reality is that you could wait a month or more for a response from their tech support team.

Disappointed and Dissatisfied with your product !....,
By A Customer
This review is from: MusicMatch JukeBox 6.0 Deluxe (CD-ROM)
I think that it is only fair that I send you this email. In the past I have used many different CD burning ROM software's including,Nero, easy CD creator etc. Unfortunately I would have to say that the music match jukebox CD burner is by far the most difficult and the most complicated I've ever used. One reason why I say this is because on all other softwares they have icons to guide you through just about everything. The music match jukebox is very poorly laid out. No icons, no guidance what so ever. There are several things I don't like including, sometimes my recordings come out slightly distorted and for some reason when I'm recording from a music folder the software constantly wants to go on line. I'm sad to say that I am very disappointed and dissatisfied with your product !

This thing is pretty cool. I can change all of my cd's into wma or mp3 format, even WAV. It works great with many top of the line mp3 players. Samsung makes the best. If you are trying to rip your cd's into mp3's, this is a very good program for beginners. Why did I not give it 5 stars? Because the one flaw is that it won't work with Windows XP.

Software Works Best with HP Record Now,
By Joey (WI United States) - See all my reviews
This review is from: MusicMatch JukeBox 6.0 Deluxe (CD-ROM)
I have read the other reviews for this product, and I have to say that I would agree with most people that it sucks...IF I didn't have HP RecordNow on my system. Burning CD's off of MMJB is very time consuming and irritating, but with Recordnow, a separate program that came with my PC, I find it to be the easiest way to organize and burn my own compliation CD's from my collection.I tried using Windows Media Player, but I became very frustrated with the file types that it saves your songs under. Microsoft seems too paranoid about copyrights and so forth. Deservedly so, because they are a target of legal action. So...my recommendation is NOT to get MMJB unless you have a darn good burning software program. Also, to the person who wanted to record tapes onto CD's...Man, why would you wanna do that? Just break down, buy the CDs instead, and then burn them. Everyone knows that the sound quality on tapes just [stinks], so what's the point of even putting it on a CD? CD's were made for better sound quality, and you're defeating the purpose if you burn the contents of the crummy tapes onto a CD. Anyway, I like MMJB, and will continue to use it.

First public release,
By Jeff Johnson "Jeff Johnson" (Chicago, IL) - See all my reviews
This review is from: MusicMatch JukeBox 6.0 Deluxe (CD-ROM)
This is the first release made available to the public beyond its own website. However, there are now more advanced versions of MusicMatch out, so I suggest getting them. What is this software used for? Organizing and playing your MP3s, WAVs, AVIs and MPGs. First it finds all of the media on your computer in directories that you specify and databases them. From that database, you take the files and drag them into the playlist. You can create and save playlists, and it is compatable with CDDB, meaning you put a music CD into the drive and it will tell you the artist and the track titles. The only bad part is the CD creation, because the software does not work with all CD burners!

JUST TERRIBLE !!!!!,
By BobZip "bobzip" (Port Orange, FL United States) - See all my reviews

I have a Dell xps with 1024 ram, windows XP pro and 120 GB. I installed musicmatch and it immediately disable my Nec 1100a DVD/CD read and write drive. I tried to enable the driver through my "Device Manager" (which showed the drive disable), and when I tried to I got error message that there was a program conflict and windows could not enable the drive. I sent a e-mail to tech support SIX days ago and still have not heard back. The only other product I have that uses the drive is Roxio 7. I have uninstalled musicmatch and used the windows "restore" to get my computer back to where it should be with my NEC 1100a DvD/CD--R/RW drive working just fine. My advice is to stay away from this product because of conflicts that may arise with other programs and the piss-poor tech support !!!!!! |
