I have been playing for about 15 years, and this amp is a beginners dream! I would have loved to have something this powerful/loud when I started! The clean circuit is actually based exactly off of an older fender circuit, which means the cleans are pretty good. The lead channel is ok. It has what some refer to as the 'blanket over the speakers' sound. Kinda dull, lackluster, without that feeling of the amp being 'alive' that most tube enthusiasts go for.
That said...I love this amp! I would buy another any day of the week. The reason I am saying this, and don't get me wrong, because stock this amp is just ok, is that if you look around at some of the mods (most of which are fairly simple to do), and start doing some of the mods....this amp really opens up, and new life is breathed back into it!
I've always been a mesa high-gain guy, owned a tri-rec, and a single-rec, but this thing is at least par with both of them (once modded). Albeit the mesas have more controls, more options, better pedal control, etc..
Either way, this amp is a great entry level tube amp, as well as a great place to get your feet wet in amp modding. Lots of fun, I'll be looking for another one!
(If you mod your amp, make sure to heed all electrical warnings, discharge all capacitors, and only do it if you feel comfortable about it. YOU COULD BE KILLED/SERIOUSLY INJURED IF YOU DON'T KNOW WHAT YOU'RE DOING! Otherwise, take it to a tech that knows what they are doing.)

This is my first all tube guitar amp, and I'm not a professional or touring musician, so all I was seeking was good sound with a value that would be there to back me up if I ever do start doing so.
When I received the amp, I noticed one thing on the box- a "heavy lifting" sticker. The amp is, indeed, very heavy for a 2x12, but I can deal.
The first time I fired it up, I dialed in some random tones on the clean just to cover that side of the amp. I was amazed. I'm not sure if it's just the fact that I have never played through a tube amp, but to this day it's the cleanest, warmest tone that I've ever heard out of my SG. My favorite setting on clean is the rhythm setting on my guitar, reverb about halfway up, and it sounds so creamy beautiful. Mind you, I am playing on an Epiphone G-310, which is the second to lowest/cheapest SG model out there (Les Paul Custom is on the way).
Now, onto the lead channel. I am no expert in the area of tube amplification, but I know a good sound when I hear it. I play mostly post-hardcore and alternative, so I set the gain only to about halfway and hit the gain boost switch, nothing too heavy. As soon as I struck that first power chord, I fell in love. I had barely even done any tweaking, and the sound was so punchy and roaring. I then hooked up the Maxon 808 overdrive pedal that I ordered, just for a little boost, and the tone is unbelievable. The overdrive pedal makes a world of difference in sustain and action. However, the distortion on the amp itself is still phenomenal.
Worried about power? No need. This thing is LOUD. I play in the basement, and I have a hard time being quiet enough at about 1 and a half. The higher the volume, it seems that the better the tone is. Just another reason to crank it up with I have the opportunity!
Overall, after doing days of research on finding a decent tube amp at a solid price, I am extremely happy with the ValveKing. I was skeptical at first after reading negative reviews, but it seems that those particular reviewers play a particular style that only certain, and highly expensive amps can tend to. To each their own, this amp will definitely work well with my post-hardcore style. I recommend it.

This amp is by far the worst I have ever played. I have gigged on many amps ranging from all tube, valve, solid state and hybrid. This just sounds very plain and undefined. It is very bassy with no definition what so ever. I have tried putting various overdrive pedals in front of it and it does it no good. I really thought this amp was going to be a charm but honestly I would not recommend this amp to anyone but a twelve-year old. There are far better amps out there in this price range.

I was looking for a tube amp, this tube amp worth the money. its not cheap but not too expensive.
PRO: affordable, tone is ok, clean channel is ok, loud amp, heavy duty.
CONS: too heavy, no adjustable option for the bias, i would change the tubes (personal tone taste), i would change the speakers, i would like to used with Celestions V30.
good for rehearsal very loud,,,and gigs...
