Un álbum lleno de sabor mexicano, rico en sonidos tradicionales mezclado con los modernos, rico para escuchar y hasta bailar. 100% recomendable!!!

I have all of Lila Downs' albums and this one is another favorite! She's beautifully gone back to her Mexican indigenous roots and each song takes you on an emotional musical journey. Her vocals are amazing on this CD and taken to another level! I feel its quite different and more powerful than La Cantina (another great album). If you enjoy la musica de Mexicano... GET IT!!

I loved this CD. The artwork and photography are beautiful. I LOVE the insert with all of the lyrics! Lila has a nice variation of songs from older songs she has redone adding her own flavor too and the new material she has created.

All of Lila Downs' albums are different from each other. Each person seems to have a different favorite. But they in each one are consistently creative, with a textured lovely voice and amazing musicianship. I have all of the albums,and it's hard to top for me "La Sandunga" and "One Blood - Un Sangre" but this one is nothing short of wonderful and sure comes close. It is far superior to her *one* weaker effort (in my opinion), "Shake Away" and a return to form.

By the way, if you're not acquainted with her, Lila is a treasure who must not be missed live.

Another creative interpretation and the music is warm, complex and soulful. The instrumentation is wonderful.Her voice is strong and pure.

I heard excerpts from this album during an interview with Lila Downs on public radio, and thought it sounded wonderful, so I ordered a copy of the "burned to order" CD. The content of the CD is of a high quality, and I was not disappointed in that regard. Two aspects of the purchase were, however, disappointing. The "set list" as it appears on a monitor, when one is playing the CD, is not that of "Pecados y Milagros," but that of "Una Sangre/One Blood," a different album by Downs. This makes it difficult to select a favorite track, as the title shown will be something completely different. In addition, although Downs is a Spanish language artist, she is billed as "Mexican-American" and it would make sense in this increasingly polyglot world to provide at least minimal liner notes in English, but the entire printed insert is monolingual Spanish. Since so much of Downs's chosen repertory has socially relevant context, I should think she would be anxious to involve Anglophones in her causes, of which they might be ignorant, but this does not appear to be one of her priorities. It's really rather surprising, after hearing the interview which originally drew my attention to the artist to uncover this bar to cross-border understanding. In short, while Downs is a consummate artist, talented songwriter, and elegant, smoky-voiced singer, and while the album is comprised of sensitive, emotive, and thought-provoking material, my pleasure in it was dampened by the erroneous on-disc set list and the absence of any English text at all to clarify the liner notes.
