Pedal Cars and Purple Pickles,
By Lin Day (USA) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Pedal Cars & Purple Pickles: An Auto Biography (Paperback)
Very impressed. A wonderfully written book with a lot of laugh out loud pages that carried me down memory lane. I truly enjoyed reading Pedal Cars and Purple Picles... it is not only very funny in parts but also touched on the authors personal and spiritual experience of life. I found myself laughing in most parts but then crying in others. A truly can't put down book, you just have to finish to find out how things end up.

Outstanding. Could not put it down. (by Joe Lock),

Joe Mazzara gives us the story of his life. "Oh, no, not another pompous autobiography about somebody we don't know," you might at first think. But Mazzara does it very cleaverly through the stories of the many cars he has owned throughout his life. It makes us stop and think about what car we drove (or rode in) at the pinnacle point of dramatic changes in our lives. Looking at our lives in this way, cars as a reference point, will really help us to mark those milestones. Some may be fun remembering, yet some may be quite tragic. Mazzara's life is one about a hard working devoted family man who struggled and triumphed just like we all have. Some of his cars brought back many memories for me. I especially liked the way he described his circle of friends in his early college years near the beginning of his book. It's just as if you knew some of those guys as we all have had certain "characters" as almost unforgetable friends. The book is very well done and you just want to stand up and applaud Mazzara for a life well lived as you wish many more future successes for him and his family.
