Due to the fact that you can't give 0 stars, I had to choose a 1, otherwise it would have been a big fat 0!!! We bought this mattress when I was pregnant, thinking that all crib mattresses were the same and we were totally wrong. A couple months ago my son poked a couple holes in the vinyl when he should have been napping, mind you he had nothing to use other than his fingers, no toys, nothing sharp, etc. Well last night he wakes up crying in the middle of the night, and my husband and I go in to see what is the matter, and find that the vinyl had split completely from side to side and the springs were sticking out. My poor little one had the springs poking at him. After further examination, we found that under the vinyl is a thin and I stress the word thin, layer of foam, then CARDBOARD piece and then the coils. What a joke! Carboard!!!! Needless to say I went out today and bought him a much better, better constructed Simmons mattress. I should note my son is only 17 mths old, and the first five months of his life he never even slept on that mattress, so bascially he had only used it for 12 mths. Don't waste your money ....you'll only have to buy another one down the road. Take your money and buy a much better well known mattress for your baby!!! Afterall they deserve just as good a nights sleep as we do!!!

From a mom who learned the hard way!

We are pregnant and our baby is due in two weeks. We bought the mattress for our Delta Marisa White Crib, and (you guessed it) it doesn't fit. I read the review of another poster here and it says it doesn't fit their Thomas The Tank Engine toddler bed. The poster assumed that it may fit a baby's crib, but the honest truth; its one inch (possibly more) off. An inch is enough for our baby's foot to get stuck in it, and the mattress feels like a joke, its too cushiony. We regret not reading the reviews before buying it.

If this mattress doesn't fit the majority of cribs/beds, then what is it good for?

I have had this mattress for 3 years now. My daughter started using it as a newborn and is still using it on her toddler bed at age 3. I have had no tears or springs popping as described in another review. I guess you could buy a 200 dollar mattress for your kid, but does it really matter? Have you noticed how little kids can sleep on ANYTHING? Kids can sleep in the car with their neck bent 90 degrees to the side for 3 hours just fine. They also fall asleep on the floor without complaining. This mattress is soft and fits cribs nicely. What else do you need? Mine has held up just fine. All in all it has been a good crib matress and I would probably buy it again. If you like wasting money, you should buy a pillowtop mattress with 12,000 springs for your kid. Otherwise, just save money and buy a basic one like this.

Do not buy this mattress, it is not safe. This mattress does not fit either of the cribs we have for our twins. When I called Kolcraft to inform them, the CS rep was rude and insistent that this mattress was standard size and would fit, and that they haven't had any complaints. She also implied it was my crib that was the wrong size. We have 2 cribs and the sealy matress in the crib the twins still share fits nice and snug. The Kolcraft has at least an inch gap and can move around quite easily.

We bought this mattress for my daughter 3 years ago when she was 6 months old, and it's now on her toddler bed! It has survived uncountable jumping sessions and has been SO easy to clean - literally just a soapy spongeing does the job. It finally got a tiny split in the vinyl cover, but I put a two inch piece of duct tape over it, put on the sheet and it's back in business! When we do replace it, we'll just get another Pediatric 1000. An excellent value!

I purchase the mattress which was recommended for me to purchase with my thomas the train bed. unfortunately it does not fit the width is two small. The matress sinks to the floor. I trusted the recommendations and that is the result I got, not satisfied at all, especiallly the delivery charges. I only give it a rating of 3 because the bed is soft and can work for a standard crib bed.

We are very happy with this mattress, but it is a little less firm than I expected. The first night that my daughter slept on it, she slept for 11 hours - so the firmness doesn't bother her!

My 19 yr. Old daughter just gave birth on July 14th, 2005 to my grandson and I have to say the product turned out wonderfully, Jordan sleeps in his crib peacefully and and it fit directly into the crib with no extra space!! so thank you amazon!!
