A book to read,
This review is from: Pediatric Imaging: The Fundamentals, 1e (Paperback)
I like the book. I bought it because I did not have the older edition. The new edition contains the same knowledge that the older edition had - plus some new sections. However, it is still a thin book and easy to read. The illustrations are much more better including more CTs and MRIs. The images of X-rays has still not been improved and in medium quality. It is a classic and if you dont have the older edition, you should definitely buy it; if you already have the older version, you should wait until its price drops more.

I just started my first year of radiology residency (hooray for not being an intern anymore!), and my first rotation is pediatrics. This book was strongly recommended to me by more senior residents in my program. I have not been disappointed. The book is fairly small (about 250 pages), which makes finishing it during the course of a one month rotation a completely doable task. When we do teaching cases with the attending every morning, I feel like I can contribute meaningful differential diagnoses based on what I've read in this book the night before, even as an inexperienced R1. This book is a must-have for radiology residents!

The book is really short, but covers surprisingly well all the ares of pediatric radiology. You won't find there any anatomical information, but for clinical day to day practical stuff, it is excellent. Easy to read in a one month rotation, the book is well written, fun to read and the content is always pertinent and concise.

Your first ped rad book,

If you are a resident in radiology or pediatrics this is the #1 book you should read. It is a short read, the text is down to the point written in an easy to digest style, with lots of pertinent images. I would not open any other peds rad book without reading and knowing this one first from cover to cover. It has been my best friend on ped rad rotations and board prep. Dr Donnelly has a very down to earth style, this will be your favorite basic peds book.

Awesome, concise book for all your pedi rad needs. The succinctness allows the important points to stick. There are numerous tables comparing and contrasting ddx considerations (ie neuroblastoma vs Wilm's). In a pediatric heavy program like ours this book gave me a huge leg up with minimal effort.

Must have for 1st year pediatrics rotation! But images are a bit small. It covers pretty much all the pediatric subspecialties as well as it could for how short the book is.

Good book with basal and really fundamental information regarding pediatric radiology. If you need a quick referrence - it is the right choice. Almost all topics were covered by well written text with fibe description and radiological diagnosis key points. Some topics are not full, but the basics are present however. If you need to dig deeper - you must go for other textbook or targeted journals that cover pediatric radiology issues. As general - nice impression, perfect value for price. Recommended for residents and general radiologists.

Excellent Choice for Beginning Radiologists,

Beginning radiologists will find this book very helpful. The book is well organized, portable, & hits all the major conditions needed to succeed in your first rotation on peds radiology. The author takes a very practical approach to developing a differential for common disease processes. While the book is too brief for advanced radiologists, it was the perfect amount of material for my first rotation.

I was looking for a book that describes normal findings and abnormalities of peds xrays. That is; normal findings, ossification centers, growth plates as well as fractures, tumors, and abnormalities. It turns out that this book is more broad than just musculoskeletal and isn't very useful for either a general pediatrician or an ER doc. Seems to be geared more for radiologists.
