A great book on a great concept,
This review is from: Pediatric Massage Revised for the Child with Special Needs (Paperback)
This book is a must for anyone who has children or works with children in a therapy setting. I have practiced the concepts presented in this book on my own child and have noticed wonderful results. Pediatric massage is a great way to bond with your child and provide a valuable therapy session at the same time. The authors are knowlegable about pediatric massage and present the concepts in a way that makes them easy to apply. The book is well written with simple, yet informative illustrations. If you are a parent of a child with special needs, please get this book for yourself and recommend it to your child's therapist. You will be glad that you did.

I purchased this book hoping to get some ideas to use on some of my newer clients. I was disappointed in the book as it's not only small (I did look at number of pages before purchasing but the way they're laid out makes the information amount small as well), there is less information than I learned in school. If you're a Massage Therapist and have had a thorough education, hands-on experience and possess common sense, you probably won't benefit a whole lot. If you're new to massage, come from a school that doesn't look into anything other than the basics or just want some general information, this book would be really helpful.

I am a pediatric Occupational Therapist and I used to have the old version many years ago. This revised version has a great section on current evidence based research to support why therapeutic massage is an excellent sensory tool.
