Book Description

Pediatric Nursing is a comprehensive text for undergraduate nursing students that approaches the topic of children's healthcare from a holistic and family entered perspective. Traditional areas of assessment, disease processes and health promotion are examined within the context of contemporary social and cultural influences that affect today's children and their families. Chapters focus on anticipatory guidance for the family related to developmental milestones, health concerns and health promotion strategies specific to each stage of development. This text also address the specific needs of the increasing number of families caring for children with complex health problems at home. Common alterations and disorders are discussed extensively and organized by body system rather than age group enabling students to locate information and absorb the content more easily. This text seeks to empower students as critical thinkers capable of meeting the challenges they will undoubtedly face as healthcare providers in the 21st century.

Editorial Reviews

Review

I was glad to see the inclusion of greater case based learning examples…represents a solid nursing text… Strengths of this text include the critical thinking features and case based learning questions present in each chapter, the extensive list of resources and suggested readings, and the comprehensiveness of the content. -Laura Witter, MSN, ARNP-C Instructor Seattle University College of Nursing

Strengths of this text are the readability, thoroughness, and utilization of research data. -Barbara McClaskey, PhD, MN, RNC Associate Professor Department of Nursing Pittsburg State University Pittsburg, Kansas

Features in the text are excellent, I really like the personal perspectives and stories throughout the chapters, this really gives a face to pediatric nursing. Critical thinking boxes are great. -Olivia W. May, RN, MSN, CPNP Clinical Instructor Capstone College of Nursing The University of Alabama Tuscaloosa, Alabama

Three strengths: readability; key concepts ideas at the end of chapters; the feel that the writers are generally in tune with current pediatric practice. -Carol Hargate, MPH, RN, CNP Assistant Professor Minnesota State University Mankato, Minnesota --This text refers to an alternate Hardcover edition.

Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This book is required by my nursing program and came to me as ordered. The packaging was poor and the book had slight damage so I would not buy from the same seller I bought from. Pick another amazon seller but the book was as described.
