Book Description

3540330046 978-3540330042 March 27, 2008 2nd

Since the first edition of Pediatric Uroradiology, very significant advances have been made in the imaging and treatment of common and important pediatric urologic disorders such as vesicoureteric reflux, urinary tract infection, and upper urinary tract dilatation. This revised and extended version takes full account of the sometimes dramatic changes. It describes in detail all aspects of pediatric uroradiology, embracing both recent developments and established concepts. New chapters have been added, for example on genetics in nephrourology and clinical management of important nephrourologic disorders. Short conclusions are included at the end of chapters and sections to provide the reader with the key information on the specific topic under consideration. This book will allow not only the (pediatric) radiologist, but also the pediatrician, pediatric surgeon, and urologist to meet the challenges of today s pediatric uroradiology.

Editorial Reviews

Review

From the reviews of the second edition: "This second edition of Pediatric Uroradiology … updates all 29 chapters for technical and theoretical changes in paediatric uroradiology that have occurred over the last few years. … this is an important and useful text. … I believe this edition will become and important reference text for paediatric and adult radiologists, general paediatric practitioners, paediatric surgeons, urologists and paediatric nephrologists and will hopefully reach the largest possible circulation." (Giampiero Beluffi, La Radioogia Medica, Vol. 114, March, 2009) “Pediatric Uroradiology more than meets the goals set by its authors who are internationally renowned in the field. Although this book is primarily intended for pediatric radiologists, it will serve as an excellent reference for general pediatricians specialists in the field of pediatric uroradiology, and those who are new to the field. The chapters are well organized … . The illustrations figures, and tables are of high quality and enhance the text. … serve as a reference tool for new trainees in pediatric imaging.” (Susie Muir, Radiology, Vol. 255 (2), May, 2010)

From the Back Cover

Since the first edition of Pediatric Uroradiology, very significant advances have been made in the imaging and treatment of common and important pediatric urologic disorders such as vesicoureteric reflux, urinary tract infection, and upper urinary tract dilatation. This revised and extended version takes full account of the sometimes dramatic changes. Where appropriate, new contents have been included, e.g., on genetics, while other information that continues to be pertinent has been retained. This book describes in detail all aspects of pediatric uroradiology. While it is written primarily from the point of view of the radiologist, it includes essential information for the pediatrician, pediatric surgeon, and urologist. It is specifically designed to aid the clinician in decisions on imaging management. The newest techniques and the changing relevance of imaging and interventional procedures are presented, and the diverse problems associated with the changing anatomy, physiology, and pathophysiology from the newborn period to adulthood are explained. The whole spectrum of imaging features of agenesis, anomalies, dysplasia, parenchymal diseases, neoplastic diseases, stone disease, renal vascular hypertension, renal failure, renal transplantation, and genitourinary trauma is covered. Individual chapters are devoted to vesicoureteric reflux, urinary tract infection, upper urinary tract dilatation, voiding dysfunction, and neurogenic bladder. A new chapter on the clinical management of common nephrourologic disorders, with the subtitle "guidelines and beyond," explains how imaging is embedded in the whole process of clinical management today. Short conclusions are included at the end of chapters and sections to provide the reader with the key information on the specific topic under consideration. This book is dedicated to children – everywhere.
