5.0 out of 5 stars Great for shelf board exam
When I took the shelf board, my jaw dropped - it was as if the board came straight out of this book. Concise, but loaded with information. Lacks only info on immunizations and milestones, but these can be found anywhere.

I agree with Ben. Look at the PreTest Pediatrics PocketTest for Palm at www.BrainGlue.com . They have an interactive quiz program that presents explanations appropriate to your choices. 5.0 out of 5 stars great review!, March 3, 2006
Pre-Test for Pediatrics was a great high-yield source for clinical clerkship or the Boards. It contains 500 questions with complete answers with references to further read up on the topics. It also contains black and white pictures throughout. It was a great review for the shelf exam. I find the Pre-Test series an important adjunct to my studies because it helps pinpoint my weaknesses.

5.0 out of 5 stars Exellent review!, July 12, 2003

This book is a perfect review for the USMLE-2. It include 5oo clinical-cases question with pictures and X-rays. The questions are shorter than on real exam but they help you to concentrate on high-yeld topics and learn important details which are often missed in other review books.
The book is well-organized. The questions are arranged in chapters. For example, the newborn infant, respiratory system, cardiovascular system... This allows you to learn the topic first and than sharpen your knowlege using this book. Plus, you can practice with questions before you finish reading the whole Pediatrics!
Perfect review!

5.0 out of 5 stars Excellent, May 20, 2000

This review is from: Pediatrics: Pretest Self-Assessment and Review (Pretest - Self-Assessment and Review Clinical Science Series) (Paperback)
I used this book to help review for Step 3. As a resident in IM, I really needed a Peds refresher. This book was excellent for the job. It was a tough review, but I think it's a necessary task for the Boards. Allow a few days to cover the book (including time to look up the answers in your Peds reference).

5.0 out of 5 stars Great for the shelf, April 26, 2011
I used the pretest series for pretty much all of the shelf exams and thought this one was most similar to the actual test. I used this version as opposed to the newest version and did not think I was at any disadvantage. Highly recommended.

I just took the peds shelf exam and there were questions that felt like they were lifted directly out of this book. I only wished i got to go through it twice! Go through the explanations for every question (even the ones you get right) and you should be good to go!

Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
I ordered this book "like new." If like new involves every answer in the book being circled then I have been educated. This seller blatantly ripped me off on this book.
