4.0 out of 5 stars Great product for the price, November 11, 2007

For a $5 pedometer is a great deal. It's easy to setup and the sensitivity adjustment works well. It takes a couple of try-and-error to get the right sensitivity, otherwise will not record your steps or record every movement, but in the end is accurate enough (I would say 2-3% error on step count).

I ordered one of these to get the calorie and distance tracking that my
Omron HJ-150 does not provide. After trying it out for a day I have decided to send it back- my first ever Amazon return of seven years of Amazon ordering. Every little jiggle set the thing off on steps, even when I decreased the sensitivity. If you take it off it adds steps, bound up the stairs with a bounce it adds extra steps, shake it a tad it adds extra steps. You can also hear the mechanism inside rattle with movement. It drives me crazy. I guess I am spoiled with my Omron. I can take it off and shake it like a maraca and it will not add anything to my steps. It also does not make a bit of noise- at all. The Omron is just spot on. I wish the High Gear had been the same, because it is thinner and keeps track of things the Omron does not. Oh well, I guess I will be looking for an Omron that has the features I am looking for.

I love this pedometer! It was so easy to program and use. You can input your weight and stride length to get accurate readings for your own specifics. It counts the distance walked, how many steps taken, and how many calories burned. It has a clip on the back to clip to a belt or to a pocket. You can flip through the information with the touch of a button.
There are only 2 things that I don't like about it. 1 - The reset button is a bit easy for me to hit, so I've reset my totals a few times. 2 - There is a little slide button where you can adjust the sensitivity of the pedometer (slide to - for less sensitive, and slide to + for increased sensitivity). I sometimes slide the button to one way or the other, which messes up my actual totals for steps taken. Neither one of these 2 things have been a problem. Every once in a while they just mess me up a bit.
I would recommend this pedometer, however I don't have any other pedometer to compare it to.

5.0 out of 5 stars Suitable, June 10, 2006

Ahlaria (Northwest CT, USA) - See all my reviews
For the price, I've had a very good experience with this Pedometer.

I like the simplicity of the layout, and the relatively easy instructions for setup.

Although other reviews on other Oregon Scientific pedometers have also noted this, it would be very helpful if the RESET button were either inset or required a 3-second hold time, as I do find myself reseting it inadvertently during the day. Additionally, I have to admit that the pedometer has been slowly losing functionality. First I couldn't adjust my weight for the calories burned function, then I couldn't even access the calories burned/distance traveled displays. It's happened over the course of 4 months, so for only about 6 bucks with shipping, I'm not too upset by it. I.e. In spite of the dwindling functionality over time, I will be purchasing two of these to keep myself ahead of the problem.

All in all, I am very pleased with this product.

5.0 out of 5 stars Pretty good AND inexpensive!, November 27, 2007
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
I have owned this pedometer for about a month now and I am pleased with it. I have never used one before so i have nothing to compare it to. I have noticed that sometimes it will add steps to my count but there is a way to change the sensitivity of the pedometer so it won't register every movement as a step (I just keep forgetting to adjust it!!). The readout is clear and I haven't had any problems with it reseting accidently on me. It is great to look at it at the end of the day and see how far I've walked just doing every day things! Also, the milage and calorie counters are great too.

This review is from: High Gear Pe318 Pedometer (Steps, Distance and Calories) High Accuracy Pedometers (Health and Beauty)
The pedometer works as I expected it to. Found out how many miles I walk a day at work. The only problem I have is keeping it clipped to my waistband.
