Pedrini Satin Basic Nutcracker

I orignally gave this a bad review, but afer further using the nut cracker, I find that it is actually okay.

The trick was to use the larger opening, AND (if you are right-handed) lay the nut cracker in the palm of you left hand. Place the nut in the opening and CUP your left hand around the nut and device. This will kept the nut centered and also keep the nut from flying.

For a muscle powered nut cracker, this is excellent. I particularly like the fact that it is light weight. I would have given it 5 stars, but I reserve that for nut crackers that don't require my muscle (i.e., electric).

It's a basic nutcracker. The finish does not wear off. The only reason I did not give 5 stars is because after cracking a large number of really tough filberts, the hinge is a little loose.

This is a simple, functional cracker. Better suited for crab. Spacing of the jaws does not fit some varieties of common nuts well.
The description is "Black & Satin". It is not. It is a single finish of "crome".

While I have yet to have used this for cracking nuts. I have used this with seafood. So much better than those old wobbly nut crackers, easier to use, and better looking.

The Pedrini Nutcracker is well designed and functional. I have not cracked nuts with it yet, but it has done a great job on Crab and Lobster.
