More like a Can't Opener,

I should have been suspicious of a can opener that is marketed as "satin". Perhaps it is meant to imply that the opening mechanism works smoothly, but that would be in direct contradiction to how it actually functions. Even more ambitious is calling it a "can opener", as this would also be in direct contradiction to how it actually functions. However, I can see the dilemma of the marketing branch at Pedrini; a Black & Crappy Can't Opener probably wouldn't sell as well. It broke after "opening" ten cans. That's $.60 per can.

Complete Piece of Junk,
By
This review is from: Pedrini Black & Satin Classic Can Opener (Kitchen)
I bought this yesterday (not on Amazon, at a grocery store), and the first time I used it, today, it broke. But before it broke, it gave me one heck of a battle trying to open a little 6.5 oz. can of button mushrooms. First, the round cutting blade did not securely hang onto the can as I tried to twist the rotating knob. So, the natural reaction is to grip the handles harder, but this results in the handles actually becoming detached from the opener (the handles are not glued or fastened onto the device, they simply slide onto the head of the opener, and can easily be pulled off). After sliding the handles back on as snugly as possible, I continued trying to open my can of mushrooms, but the can would only sporadically be punctured by the blade, rather than being continuously sliced into; and the shaking of the can as I tried to grip hard enough to get the blade to cut, but not too hard so as to avoid the handles pulling off, caused the can to shake periodically, spraying mushroom-water all over the table I was working on. Finally, to add insult to injury, as I continued struggling to get the lid off my mushroom-can, the round cutting blade finally popped right off of the device, rendering it completely useless, unfixable, and destined to the trash can. And leaving me with a can of button mushrooms whose lid had been sporadically and arbitrarily punctured, but failing to render the can lidless. So I will try to pry the lid off with a letter opener, hoping not to slice a gash into my hand.
Do yourself a favor, and spend a few dollars more to get a can opener that actually works. That's what I'm doing on Amazon right now.

Works great, no complaints!,

Figuring this was a cheap can opener, but we needed to replace our high-EMF emitting normal can opener and this one was the ticket.
We received it, immediately unplugged our normal can opener which gives off tremendous EMF when used. I was PLEASED with the quality of this one, it was very easy to open cans and worked flawlessly! Great product.

I bought this a little more then a month ago. The first several times I used it, it would not catch on to the side of the can it was a pain to use. Today I used it and the handle you turn just broke off. Do NOT waste your money!

Cheap product! Broke on first use. I'll post pictures next. I don't know how amazon can sell this type of junk product. I'm very disappointed.
Please don't buy this.

cutting wheel/blade fell right off, just like half the other reviews... seems like you have a 50% chance of getting a good one... or one that will either arrive damaged, or break on first use... i suppose this is what i get for buying a can opener on the internet...

I didnt realise a can opener can be a disapointment!! It does not cut the can easily- and many a time skips certain spots, so that i have to go over with the opener at least twice.

Bought this last Christmas and was very reasonably priced and is still going strong over a year later. Highly recommend.

Garbage,
This review is from: Pedrini Black & Satin Classic Can Opener (Kitchen)
The plastic of this can opener, which is used in abundance, is cheap. When I received the opener, one of the handles, which wasn't really attached, fell off. How it got past QC is beyond me.
It doesn't really open cans, a definite minus for a can opener. The handle that turns broke after a single use. This is one of the worst products, and hands down the worst can opener I've ever encountered in my life. It is complete and utter garbage. Save a few dollars and get an all-metal can opener at a convenience store. |
