1.0 out of 5 stars not for work at home moms
I'm a work at home mom and really couldn't relate to this book at all. I skimmed through the whole thing in about 5 minutes and found it pretty pointless from my perspective.

5.0 out of 5 stars A Lifesaver For Your Purse, January 24, 2007
This review is from: Peeing In Peace: Tales & Tips for Type A Moms (Paperback)
For all busy working moms out there, Peeing in Peace: Tales and Tips for Type A Moms is a lifesaver. In fact, for all moms out there, Beth Feldman and Yvette Manessis Corporon's new book is a lifesaver. After all, most of us are thrashing around in the rough seas of motherhood - contending with the whipping winds of other people's judgments about our parenting, or the crashing waves of our endless "things to do" lists, or the swirling eddies of tantrums and whines from our little ones.

And so, for anyone who is breathlessly doggy paddling in the high seas of mom-dom, this book is definitely for you.

Peeing in Peace explores the myriad of funny, poignant, and all-too-familiar dilemmas faced by today's moms - such as going back to work; negotiating other mothers at the local pre-school; giving up your beloved sports car for a mini-van; dealing with biting "play-date piranhas;" or the demise of afternoon nooky with your husband. Feldman and Manessis Corporon describe all these predicaments and quandaries with candor, honesty, and a great deal of wit.

The most important message of the book is that busy moms - facing all these kinds of dilemmas - need a community. They need other moms to share their stories with. They need confidantes and co-conspirators who will confess, "I bought Dunkin Donuts for the preschool bake sale too" or "I only arranged a play-date with Ms. Jones's kids so I could nose around her McMansion." Through their book, Feldman and Manessis Corporon become our mommy-comrades. And they inspire us to go out and find more.

Peeing in Peace is truly a lifesaver...and it also happens to be so cute and natty, you can carry it in your purse!

5.0 out of 5 stars Laughter and Mama-Camaraderie Galore!, April 24, 2007
This review is from: Peeing In Peace: Tales & Tips for Type A Moms (Paperback)
With candor, intelligence, and humor to spare, "Peeing in Peace" should be tucked into every mom's purse---and diaper bag! With a non-judgmental voice, Beth and Yvette's personal tales are conveyed in a way that regardless of whether you are a working mom, working from home mom, or are headquartered out of your home working AS a mom, you will smile and see glimpses of your own maternal experience.

An equally perfect gift for the new mommy who's heading back to the office or the one who has decided to "stay home", the giggles provoked by "Peeing in Peace" can ease the toughest of Mommy transitions. I highly recommend it!

5.0 out of 5 stars So funny and so true. Laugh out loud., February 9, 2007
This review is from: Peeing In Peace: Tales & Tips for Type A Moms (Paperback)
Beth and Yvette put into words (and funny ones) the feelings so many of us working moms have day in and day out. This book does not preach or tell you how to be a better mother. It doesn't make you feel guilty for going to work every day (or for playing hooky on the days you must attend a school play or some other inconveniently scheduled family obligation). Peeing in Peace is simply a delightful, funny look at the joys and chaos of "doing it all." Face it, sometimes the only place you can get a moment's peace is in the bathroom. The one at work, anyway. Get this book and laugh out loud.

3.0 out of 5 stars Very funny, BUT this book is TINY in size!, July 3, 2007
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: Peeing In Peace: Tales & Tips for Type A Moms (Paperback)
The book's content is very funny and you will definitely get some out loud laughs from it -- BUT the book is actually only a few inches big. I was disappointed and basically shocked when I received it in the mail. If this were a normal sized book it would most likely only be 2-3 chapters in length. The problem with the TINY (literally doll sized) book is that it's frustrating to hold open when reading. And for any busy mom out there the last thing needed when finally getting a free moment to read a book is to have to struggle with holding the itty-bitty book open. If you are looking for some good reads to laugh about the struggles of parenting try:
1. "The Perfect Stranger" by Lucy Kaylin,
2. "I Was a Really Good Mom Before I Had Kids: Reinventing Modern Motherhood" by Trisha Ashworth & Amy Nobile or
3. "What's the Matter With Mommy?: Rantings of a Reluctant Stay-at-home Mom" by Kelley Cunningham.

3.0 out of 5 stars Peeing in Manhattan, June 8, 2007

This review is from: Peeing In Peace: Tales & Tips for Type A Moms (Paperback)
The book is funny and clever, but suffers an undercurrent of snobbery. I liked the chapter on both sides of the cooking issue, but the talk about clothes and cars gives the author away. Book is best for moms with more than one child. Not recommended as a shower gift -- might discourage a poor mother-to-be.

5.0 out of 5 stars Hilarious!!, January 29, 2009
I could not put this book down and could relate to many of the stories. It's a must-read for all Type A moms! Thank you Beth & Yvette for the great laughs. What a clever and witty title and so true. The size of the book is perfect, it makes for quick reading. I can hear my son calling for me now...."Mommy, where are you?"

5.0 out of 5 stars For a good laugh read Peeing in Peace, May 6, 2008
Great laugh. A book I could truly relate to. I read a few pages every night before bed and was always laughing. My husband had a few laughs too when I would recite certain paragraphs to him. I enjoyed it so much I wrote the authors a quick note of thanks for sharing!

Will be passing this book along to another Role Mommy who I think will enjoy it as much as I did.
