5.0 out of 5 stars Great Book
My 11 month old son loves this book. I thought I should point out some things that were unexpected about it when ordering sight unseen. This is NOT a board book, and it oversized. My son is at that point where he wants to do everything for himself, but I cannot let him have this book alone. The pages are at least thick, like poster board, but that isn't enough to...

3.0 out of 5 stars Your toddler will love it, but the flaps will tear!
Your little one will have plenty of fun pulling down the flaps in this colorful book. However, the large flaps in Peek-a-Moo! are thick paper and therefore easily tear and crease. Also, if you have a toddler who does not want or understand to close the flap back up with each page (such as the case with our 14-month-old daughter), you need to make sure the flaps are back...

My 11 month old son loves this book. I thought I should point out some things that were unexpected about it when ordering sight unseen. This is NOT a board book, and it oversized. My son is at that point where he wants to do everything for himself, but I cannot let him have this book alone. The pages are at least thick, like poster board, but that isn't enough to prevent damage. He also has a harder time turning the pages and lifting the flaps because of the large size. I would have liked to know this, so I thought I'd share. Content wise, though, it is great. We are learning names for the parts of the face, and it is great for that, if only he would let me hold the book for him.

Your little one will have plenty of fun pulling down the flaps in this colorful book. However, the large flaps in Peek-a-Moo! are thick paper and therefore easily tear and crease. Also, if you have a toddler who does not want or understand to close the flap back up with each page (such as the case with our 14-month-old daughter), you need to make sure the flaps are back up before you turn the page. Otherwise, they will hang out the bottom of the book, vulnerable to further damage from the wrath of an active toddler. We have other lift-the-flap books that have smaller, thicker flaps that automatically close when you turn the page (such as Dear Zoo--highly recommended), which are in much better condition.

I'm ordering a second copy of Peek - A - Moo because my 18 month old daughter has worn out the first! She loves the pictures and making animal sounds. The pull down flaps are so fun for her and she loves the smiling faces underneath! Out of all her books, this one is the hands down favorite and I love reading it with her. I highly recommend it!

5.0 out of 5 stars Had to buy a 2nd copy (just in case!), August 6, 2004
This review is from: Peek-a-Moo! (Lift-the-flap Books) (Hardcover)
My daughter, who is 5 months old, loves this book. It has taught her the whole concept of peek-a-boo while also allowing her to look at cute pictures of animals and to learn their sounds. I am buying a second copy b/c I know she will soon tear this one up (she kicks her legs wildly when I read it and tries to grab for the pages which come down as each animal peeks out)! I highly recommend this and will make this a standard baby/shower gift for friends from now on!

5.0 out of 5 stars Standard First Birthday Gift, April 3, 2004

My daughter has loved Peek-a-Moo and Peek-a-Zoo since she's been 8 months (or even younger--I can't remember when she didn't love these books!). She's 20 months old and still loves to look at the books, although now she reads them without me! The only downfall is that these books are paper and naturally they have been ripped up and scotch taped back together. I have given these two books to about 6 one year olds to delighted parents.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great book!, August 22, 2003
This review is from: Peek-a-Moo! (Lift-the-flap Books) (Hardcover)
This is a wonderful book for little ones. The pictures are large and the text is simple. We started reading this to our daughter when she was a few weeks old, now at 6 months she really enjoys it!

Great for teaching animals and playing peek-a-boo!

5.0 out of 5 stars Peek a Great!, February 7, 2003

My 9 month old son picked this book off the shelf at the bookstore, out of thousands of selections. Little did I know what a winner he got! He loves Peek a Boo and loves Old McDonald Had a farm (animal sounds). This book is the best combinations of each of those games. He giggled at the store and is still giggling at home. He grins from ear to ear everytime he lifts the flap. I love this book! It's fun to read even for adults.

If you're looking for an excellent baby gift, or you want to spice up your baby's library, I highly recommend Peek-A-Moo! My three month daughter is absolutely delighted by this book. The book is nice and large, with big animal faces on each page. She focuses intently on the illustrations as each animal "plays" peek-a-boo with her. Of course, it allows for some creative reading on my part as well. It gives you a chance to do your best animal sound impersonations. A favorite in our library!

5.0 out of 5 stars Kid pleasing!, November 17, 2000

This review is from: Peek-a-Moo! (Lift-the-flap Books) (Hardcover)
My 14 month old daughter loves this book. As far as she's concerned, it's the only book in the house. The text is so simple, her three year old sister can "read" it to her. This book will be my new standard baby gift.

5.0 out of 5 stars A great book for infants!, August 18, 2000

This review is from: Peek-a-Moo! (Lift-the-flap Books) (Hardcover)
My two month old adores this book! I have had difficulty finding books with illustrations that are not too 'busy' for an infant's limited focus. This book really fits the bill with simple animal faces (without too much distracting detail) that play peek-a-boo with him and nice repetitive text. He gets very excited when the animals disappear and reappear, and likes to hear the animal noises as well. This is an ideal book for infants, and based on the other reviews, I'm sure it will age well, also.
