I bought this book for my granddaughter and began to read it to her when she was 8 months old. She would wait in anticipation when I would flip the flaps and reveal and name what was behind it. In the beginning, it was me naming the objects and watching as her eyes grew big and a smile or giggle would happen when the object was revealed. After a few months, she would sit by herself, open each flap, not too gently, mind you, attempting in her baby pronunciation, to name the object. It was her favorite book when she came each week to visit. Unfortunately, she ripped some of the flaps off and the kite, the baby kangaroo, so I had to buy another one to read in the future to her new baby brother. No, he will get supervised chances to turn the pages of the new book, only the other one by himslef and who knows, he may be gentler in his approach.

My son loved this book over the summer when we got it from the library when he was 8 months old and was very excited to read it again when Santa brought it at 13 months. However, I had to return the one I received from Amazon! When it arrived, the spine and a pop-up picture were torn and because it was not from Amazon directly an exchange was not possible. I was able to get a better price at Borders with a coupon anyway.

I was very disappointed with the condition of the book. Several key pieces were missing. Just about worthless. My grandson who loves this book wanted one for his new baby brother. He could not believe its poor condition.
