Editorial Reviews

Amazon.com Review

"Peekaboo, Bunny./ Peekaboo, Mouse./ Peekaboo, Turtle, in your shell house." There's nothing so riotously fun for a baby or toddler as the game of peekaboo. Add to this that most delightful form of early childhood literature, lift-the-flap books, and you have a real winner. Of course, Mary Melcher's utterly adorable illustrations just add to the enjoyment. In this sturdy little picture book, each page is swarming with glorious color and one clever yet simple flap to lift. Behind every flap is a fluffy, pudgy critter, right up to the last page, when, surprise! Behind the child's flap-hands is a mirror with the reader's own face peering out. In spite of the faintly disturbing aspect of seeing an oval Mylar mirror instead of the expected cute little picture of a child's face, most children will probably love the surprise and the chance to gaze at their own reflection. 5.0 out of 5 stars My twins' favorite lift-a-flap book, April 28, 2000
By A Customer
This review is from: Peekaboo Bunny (Hardcover)
My 15 month old twins received this book from the Easter Bunny. They have several other lift-a-flap books, and several other books with cute pictures of animals. But this is the one they love. In most such books, they seem to simply be interested in the actual mechanics of lifting the flaps and opening the doors, etc., and they don't pay a lot of attention to what they find underneath. Not with these beautiful pictures. My daughter actually gasps everytime she sees the ducklings, the ladybug, the robins, the chipmunk, etc. The illustrations and colors are so lovely, I even enjoy looking at it over and over (I mean, to be honest, how many times can you lift flaps with pictures of elmo and big bird under them, and remain enthusiastic about it! )

5.0 out of 5 stars Beautiful and fun, May 20, 2005
This review is from: Peekaboo Bunny (Hardcover)
This book is beautifully illustrated, and more importantly my 13 month old really likes it! He enjoys playing with the mirror at the end of the book, also. And so far the flaps seem to be more durable than some of the other lift the flap, (or shall is say, "rip the flap"), books out there. I have been able to let him play with it on his own and everything is still intact at this point! At any rate, it is a sweet little book with darling images and gorgeous drawings. A perfect gift book.

5.0 out of 5 stars Family Favorite, February 17, 2010
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: Peekaboo Bunny (Hardcover)
My children have loved this book for years. When the original got too bedraggled, I ordered another one. Even the teenager was excited to know that "The Bunny Book" was back in circulation in our home.
