My one year old loves these books.

This book is great since the flaps are so durable and jot easily ripped off like my soj has done with many other books.
Amanda Kellen
He will let you read other books, but he still wants to hold on to this one.

My son loves all of the books in this series and goes back to them again and again.

The books work as follows: The first page has a picture of a baby with a toy and the next page has a large picture of that toy which you lift up to reveal a picture of another toy with a spot on it that baby can feel. The flaps are very large which makes them easy to open even for a young baby. The flaps are made out of thick material (the same material as the rest of the pages are made out of) so they're very durable unlike many other lift-the-flap books where the flaps rip easily.

There aren't a huge variety of textures in this book and some of them are pretty lame but it's still a fun book. In this book there are:
An elephant with a soft/fluffy ear (it feels like a stuffed animal with long smooth "fur").
A horse with a soft spot down the middle of it's face (it feels like corduroy).
Toy firemen with shiny/smooth bodies (this one is kind of lame, it's basically just sparkly foil type material).
A wooden train with lightly textured blocks (also kind of lame, basically just some small raised bumps.
A small teddy bear with a soft/fluffy belly (pretty much the same as the elephant but a smaller surface).

There is a different baby pictured on each page. Unlike many other books where the babies pictured are all Caucasian and look pretty much the same this book (as well as the other books in the series) includes babies from multiple different racial backgrounds.

Cute book, and I like how it has photos which seem to attract my son's attention more than drawings. I bought this to keep him entertained on a long road trip when he was around 15 months old. Sadly, he wasn't too interested in this book even though he has some other lift-the-flap books he enjoys. I think part of the problem is that most of the flaps are the exact same size as the page they're on, so my son didn't even realize it was a flap until I showed him. If the flaps were a bit smaller or more interesting shapes, I think they'd attract his attention more. I will say the flaps are more sturdy than many of our other lift-the-flap books.

Perfect for a one year old. I bought a different version, same authur for each of my three kids when they were one. All three loved to open the flaps and say 'peekboo' and I loved hearing them! They looked at them so often the flaps tore off which is not a knock on the quality because the books are made of sturdy board, it's just how much my kids looked at them.

We bought this book based on all the positive reviews but for us this book ranks near the bottom of our daughter's early book collection. I found the flow of the words a bit awkward and the logic of some of the illustrations confusing, so I never enjoyed reading it. Although I've learned to like books my daughter likes, she never seemed that fond of it either. Our daughter never seemed that interested in any of the textures in her books with texture--particularly this one.

The book also did not hold up well for our light reading of it. Two of the five flaps broke off and the other three are very worn. I'm writing this review before I forget because I'm throwing the book out now--it's our only book that isn't worth keeping due to the torn flaps.

On the positive side, the big flaps are thick and easy for little hands to open. We have preferred Lift-the-Flap Books by Karen Katz--and although those flaps appear less sturdy they have held up much better.

We own Baby Says, Bedtime, Bathtime, and Playtime Peekaboo books. Our daughter is particularly attached to Baby Says and Bedtime Peekaboo. She became attached to these books around 9 months of age and still reads them daily and she's 20 months old now. She loves opening the flaps and feeling each item. Bathtime and Playtime Peekaboo don't seem to stimulate her as much in the touch department, but she still likes looking at them. She has spent countless hours looking through the books herself. Unfortunately she ripped several pages out when she was younger and are now taped back in. They are sturdy but when a child is determined to rip a board book, it will happen. These are must have books. So much so we are ordering Farm and Dress Up Peekaboo.

This is one of the first books I bought for my son. I got it when he was about 6 months old. He loved the pictures and when I lifted the flap. Soon after he began to turn the pages and lift the flap on his own! He is 9 months now and gets through the book on his own. (sometimes going back to start over again) The pictures are not cartoons so its easier to relate the pictures to real life. Touch and feel let them get interactive as well as flipping the pages and flaps. All I have to say is I cant wait to get the other two bedtime/bathtime in the mail soon. Didnt know they had more from this collection until 2 days ago!

I bought this book for my granddaughter when she was 6mos old. She was so crazy about it, that a few weeks later I bought the bathtime, bedtime, and baby says ones. She is now 18 mos old and they are still her favorites that she will want to sit with me and look at over and over again. She will be delighted to find there are more which I plan to buy today. But even though sturdy, after a year of use, they are wearing out. And when she has gotten a little hyper, she has torn the flap on a couple of them, so they do need supervision, hopefully a loving mom or grandma to sit and spend time. Have fun, we have.
