5.0 out of 5 stars One of my favorite EPs of all time..., August 12, 2002
This review is from: Peel Session (Audio CD)
Where to start, where to start? It's hard to explain this live ep in words, it's musically, vocally, EVERYTHING is great on this ep. Fire Number 9 starts off the ep with energy, giving you a good feeling overall. Then, Soul Driver. I will agree with the other reviewer, one of Meat Beat's best songs EVER, hands down. The music, the lyrics, Jack at his finest on vocals, the echoes...EVERYTHING is great on this track. Drop live sounds better than the album version, in my opinion. Not to mention, the killer version of Radio Babylon, which is better than any other version, without a doubt.
The only thing I'd wish for is one or two more songs on this EP. But with 4 instant classics already, why complain? Enjoy it and love it, I know you will.

4.0 out of 5 stars A good introduction, February 23, 2001
This review is from: Peel Session (Audio CD)
While not a typical MBM release, it's worth buying to get a good introduction to the world of Jack Dangers and crew. The EP consists of 4 tracks, 2 new ones and 2 previous studio tracks. Out of the new tracks, "Fire Number 9" is fairly good and very straight forward, but nothing new or revolutionary. Just a good fun track to listen to. On the other hand, "Soul Driver" is one of my favorite MBM tracks of all time. A slow meltdown of flute, Jack's paranoid raps, and a barrage of drums, the feeling the track gives off is familiar to taking one too many bong hits and feeling your mind spiral down into euphoria. "Drop", which was released on the "Satyricon" album, gets a live treatment here. Live drums and more of a playful feeling to it than the studio version. Finally, "Radio Babylon", essentially the track that put MBM on the map. This version lays every other version to waste. And to my suprise, there are vocals! It's pure bliss.

I'd recommend this CD to either people just starting to listen to Meat Beat Manifesto or people well aquainted with their work. You will not be disappointed.
