2008 release from the British Post-Punkers containing their first four Peel Sessions plus bonus recordings, all from their highly influential period 1979-81. Tracks 1-14 are Peel Session tracks, 15-17 are a bonus Richard Skinner session from the same period. The tracks featured on this album are much rawer and some predate their studio counter parts by some months. Once described as 'the sound of the earth vomiting', Killing Joke is anthemic and grandiose in it's evocation of nightmare visions. Taking a sarcastic jab at authority and perceived reality to a sonically charged mixture of Post--Punk and Metal, Killing Joke's heavy guitars and pounding tribal drums conjure a primitive atmosphere of doom, gloom and resistance. EMI. 2008.

I usually avoid live recordings like the plague. This Killing Joke cd breaks that rule over and over. Just Brilliant.

This CD is compilation of demo sessions. Most of the material is known from the later albums. In my opinion early versions are much better and more authentic :-)
