4.0 out of 5 stars You have to., March 7, 2006

The epitaph for both the Hot Snakes and John Peel clocks in at a whopping 9:24.

That makes this EP a minor milestone along the long two-lane highway of forgotten rock and roll, now completely bypassed by the eight-lane Interstate of crap.

You have to buy this if only for the hope that your children may one day hear it, be moved, and then change their little corner of the musical world.

5.0 out of 5 stars Hardly worth the money..., June 7, 2005

This review is from: Peel Sessions Ep (Audio CD)
This cd is hardly worth the money:

1) Four songs for $8? Give me a break.
2) No applause or Peel introductions.
3) All the songs sound pretty much the same as on their recordings.

However, you should still pick it up because:

1) It was the last Peel Session ever.
2) It's The Hot Snakes.
3) ...It's The Hot Snakes.

4.0 out of 5 stars Is it worth about a dollar a minute?, August 11, 2005
This review is from: Peel Sessions Ep (Audio CD)
Yes, if you're already a fan. I assume you are if you're reading this. Otherwise, stick with the albums. The surf-rock touches I always wished Hot Snakes would extend and elaborate upon surface briefly here and there, which adds to its appeal. The extreme brevity may be due to the fact that if John Peel had lived longer, the band might have added a couple more four-tune sessions before releasing this. Why this band does not jam a bit and delve more deeply into their swirl puzzles me. Rumors are that the band may be at an end, so perhaps this is an epitaph not only for the late great Mr. Peel, but for the Snakes.
