No Dialogue Picture Book with nice illustrations.,
By Cady Hayden "Children's Book Author" (Bergenfield, NJ USA) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Peep! (Hardcover)
Great simple illustrations. The only words that appear in this book are those from the little duckling, 'peep' and the surprise animal at the end. It is an easy flowing story that would be great for a young classroom to be able to write their own words and captions for each page.
This book is about a duck who is born and finds a friend. They do everything together until the duck hears and sees other ducks. The boy realizes that he must let the duck be with his kind and brings him to a nearby pond. The boy begins missing him. He mopes. At the end of the story, he finds another friend.

Adorable New Children's Book for Young Readers,
By
This review is from: Peep! (Hardcover)
One day, a young boy is walking through the park, whistling a jolly tune, when a baby duck pokes his tiny head through the shell which he has just hatched from. The boy is mesmerized by the young duck, and they soon become great friends, sharing everything with each other. However, fall is quickly approaching, and the young duck has grown up. His voice is no longer a "peep!" but rather a "quack!" And as a flock of his feathered friends fly by, the little duck is forced to make a very hard decision. Staying with his friend, or going with his flock.
Luthardt's PEEP! features everything that a very young child will enjoy when reading a book: colorful illustrations, and very easy words which are scattered throughout the pages. Young readers will find themselves able to read the story themselves, as there aren't many words, and children who have not quite begun reading yet will be able to decipher what is going on in the story, for the illustrations are quite self-explanatory. Overall, this is an adorable new children's book that will be greatly enjoyed by all. Erika Sorocco Book Review Columnist for The Community Bugle Newspaper

This is a charming little story. Few words, but the colorful illustrations add to the story and let children's imaginations fill in the rest.

A simple and sweet story of true friendship. There are very few words but there are lots of possibilities for talking about the story. I think younger children will enjoy the pictures and older children will enjoy discussing the happenings on each page.
