5.0 out of 5 stars The real David vs. Goliath!!! The story of the Just Educator and the Unjust School System!!, July 7, 2008
This review is from: Peep Show For Children Only (Paperback)
I purchased two "Peep Show for Children Only!" My son, Ryan and I love this book. This book gives a play by play of Dave's efforts to right the wrong with our school system and our society. Dave's plight to educate his students about dietary options/hazards through his art lessons is to be applauded. The documented communications between the school faculty/board and he are hair raising. I only wish my son, Ryan had such a devoted educator and philosopher to guide him through his academic years. Dave's book pushes the envelope.. Communicates the importance of not allowing oneself to fall victim of being a silent witness (our of peer pressure). This wonderful piece of literature makes "us" wonder exactly what these schools are NOT teaching our children. If Mr. Warwak is "guilty" of being compassionate, empathetic and forthright with his students, then we live in some troubling times, indeed. SINCE WHEN DID HONESTY BECOME A CRIMINAL ACT? Aren't our educators hired to do just that? Educate in a respectful, open minded, "out of the box" manner? Loved this book!! Who needs "Aesops" when ya have "Peep Show?" This is the real life story of David vs. Goliath... I am pulling for David... Once you read this book, your life and view of the World of Academia will never be the same.. You will be cheering, snickering, and laughing while Dave paints this "Board" into a corner... MUST READ.... excellent lesson for children and adults as to the true meaning of The Six Pillars of Character.... Character and Humane Education are one in the same, and shame on those school districts that don't incorporate the two into their curriculum.... You won't be sorry! Excellent gift for that friend/family member who loves a story based on social justice...a better gift for those who are not sure what social justice means!!! Lifelong learning, it's a wonderful thing!!!!! Every voice counts, and I am thrilled that this book was written.. I will certainly be purchasing several more for the holidays!! You, too will be hailing Dave Warwak as a hero.. a warrior, of sorts... His devotion, passion and loyalty to educating his students and peers on the hazards of meat/dairy consumption are commendable and moreover, honourable...

5.0 out of 5 stars A REAL EYE OPPENER!, July 6, 2008
This review is from: Peep Show For Children Only (Paperback)
Dave Warwack's Peep Show for Children is a clear and concise description of the stablishment's manipulation, distortion and endoctrination of young minds. The book points out how our so called "educational system" demonize, censors and ridicules free thinkers and descenters of the status quo. The meat, dairy and egg industries, like all corporate industries today, have condition, brain wash children through the "educational system" into becoming gluttons, devouring other lives while destroying the environment, other spesies and their own, and in essence becoming parasites.

5.0 out of 5 stars Modern-Day Scopes Monkey Trial, June 7, 2009
By
This review is from: Peep Show For Children Only (Paperback)
Peep Show for Children Only needs to be taught in classrooms and read by anyone who has convictions. Our culture indoctrinates us to believe many things. One is that the legal system protects the individual. Another is that the media reports the truth. The unaltered transcripts in this book prove something entirely different: our legal system exists for the purpose of maintaining a social order and protecting the interests of the state.

Dave Warwak was a middle-school art teacher. He introduced the ideas of compassion and respect for animals, elements of humane education, into his lessons. One project -- a peep show on which the title is based -- allowed students to connect with animals; the project was embraced by parents and faculty alike. Mr. Warwak illuminated a truth that disturbed the fabric of complacency and required response -- animals are not food. Unfortunately, the response was for the system to close ranks, suppress the truth, and ruthlessly and viciously converge on one man to silence him.

Against overwhelming pressure to submit, Mr. Warwak stood strong and even the predatory media descended to discredit him by weaving sensational claims. It is admirable when a teacher instills in a child a capacity to observe, critically think, and form one's own conclusions. Dave Warwak told his students not to say "Mr. Warwak told you". He taught them to think for themselves and own their own ideas. Sadly, the media perverted this noble idea and saturated the court of public opinion with an outright lie: that Mr. Warwak was conducting lessons in secrecy.

If anyone thinks the Scopes Monkey Trial took place in an era where people were less enlightened, they need to read this book and understand this is a modern-day equivalent. Ideas are dangerous. Those who speak truth will be persecuted and suppressed.

It is impossible to read this book and not want to thank Mr. Warwak for the extreme personal sacrifices he endured to speak the truth at all costs. While every conceivable force converged to remove him from the classroom and silence him, they actually gave him a stronger voice that speaks the truth in a society that values violence and deceit.

Dave Warwak's integrity and strength in the face of an orchestrated persecution is both admirable and inspirational.

5.0 out of 5 stars System busted, July 11, 2008

Peep Show is an eye-opener. We wonder why there's so much meat in front of our faces. The industry has tricked us, the populous, into its cruel and heartless house of mirrors. We didn't want to go there, but our minds got weak, and now it's seems its ok to intensively confine billions of sentient beings in filth- and disease- ridden, windowless, straw-less, comfort-less, joyless intensive-confinement systems. Dear, dear...How did we let them get away with it? Shame on them. Shame on us. Dave is hero, people. Perhaps he's a martyr, but someone's go to do it. Medal of honor, for you, Dave. 101 Reasons Why I'm A Vegetarian
