Book Description

April 1, 2006
Part whodunit, part pop culture craziness, Peep Fiction is a testament to the unbelievable popularity of and goofiness surrounding America's #1 selling non-chocolate candy.

Alert the media-a prominent Peepsville family of marshmallow Peeps has gone missing! Told primarily through newspaper and magazine stories, their mysterious disappearance provides the basis for this weird and hilarious whodunit. How did the Peeps family find themselves in such a predicament? Who is responsible? And more importantly, can they be rescued before their sell-by dates?

Clues (and some crafty characters) abound as you peep through the pages of the Peepsville local newspaper, an old Peepsville High School yearbook, and of course, the infamous Peeple Magazine. With craft ideas included throughout-because, after all, 1/3 of all peeps are purchased for purposes other than eating-this goofy book, sure to be a big hit with Peeps fans everywhere, celebrates the zaniness of peep culture while offering up something all its own. Sweet, silly, and immensely popular all over the country, Peeps have finally found a book to call their own!

5.0 out of 5 stars A hit with peeps fans and non-fans alike, March 1, 2006

I work in a bookstore and got a supply of this book in the other day. I'm not a peeps person but figured I had better give it a fair look -- it's hilarious! I shared it with peeps-passionate friends at work and two immediately said, "I want one!" A two page spread shows pictures of peeps with their names below them -- most look exactly alike and that's what is so funny. Peeps homecoming, homeschooled peeps . . .it goes on and on. The front cover has peeps that feel sugary. It's just a goofy, fun book and should appeal to anyone, especially the peeps fanatics.

5.0 out of 5 stars A book for all the peeple, March 23, 2006

To be honest, I had never heard of Peeps before. I was in the book store and the insanely colorful cover got my attention. So I bought a copy and took it home. It was great. Very funny with a bit of an edge. Who knows, maybe I'll even buy some Peeps to eat. Although it would feel a bit like canabalism now. I recommend this book to everyone.

5.0 out of 5 stars I love how a guinea pig is their school mascot., December 9, 2006
This review is from: Peeps: A Candy-Coated Tale (Hardcover)
I've always ragged on my sister for her Eastertime peep-cravings as I've never enjoyed the candy myself (although they are really cute). So I had to buy her this witty, wacky, sweet book.

Not only is it full of hilarious pictures (like a rendering of the painting "The Scream" with a yellow peep doing the screaming) but it has plenty of text to keep you engaged with the book for a while. Although perusing the book for its photos is a riot in itself. Also, there are several storylines--the peeps' field trip to the museum, Father peep having to pull himself together for work after slightly melting in his cup of coffee, and of course the mystery at the center of the book--so you always wonder what's on the next page.

One of my faves is a pictures of two peeps with a (human-sized) yearbook. One of them says something like, "I love old yearbooks." The other replies, "Dang, how do we open it?"

Why is this so funny? I don't know, it just is!
