Pseudoscopic Images (Pseudostereo),
By Ron Fredrickson, Master Stereographer (Roseville, California United States) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Peepshow: 1950s Pin-Ups in 3-D (Hardcover)
Having been in stereo photography for nearly 50 years, I must point out that six of the images in this book were presented pseudoscopically, i.e., the left and right photos were reversed in printing. These prints were opposite pages numbered 6, 16, 20, 74, 76, and 84. When this left-to-right error occurs, the near objects appear to be distant and the distant objects seem close up, a very confusing situation for our eyes and brains to interpret. A technique known as cross-eyed viewing makes it possible to see these as they should be, but this requires a fair amount of practice. The pairs should have been proof read (examined) more carefully by the author before the material went to the printer. If you, the readers, think they look strange you are right. Stereo nut that I am, I still gave this book a rating of four, but it should perhaps have been downgraded to a three because of these glaring 3-D errors.

This book is 3-Delicious,
By Mr. Stinkhead "Toy dork" (Washington DC) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Peepshow: 1950s Pin-Ups in 3-D (Hardcover)
This volume creatively includes a 3-D viewer for truly experiencing these stereo-graphic images from the 50s.More art and history rather than erotica... or at least that's what you can tell your significant other. The pictures are great, I particularly enjoy that the women come from a more realisitic, less enhanced era.

One Hot Item,
By D. Hyden (Colorado) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Peepshow: 1950s Pin-Ups in 3-D (Hardcover)
This is a great book for those who adore 1950's pin-up eye candy. Its one of my favorites, and apparently also a favorite of everyone else. I've had the darn thing stolen 3 times!! So please, get your own copy as I want to keep this one! I am afraid to even take my latest copy out of the plastic in fear another person will open it, see what is inside and take a walk...

This review is from: Peepshow: 1950s Pin-Ups in 3-D (Hardcover)
This is a fun little paperback-sized hardcover. The images have excellent depth to them and nearly all of the girls are beautiful. There are around 5 exceptions. My only complaint is the size of the photos. Each pair are close to 2" in height and around 1 3/4" in width. Not very large. Luckily, I didn't purchase this book to leave them that way. After a day of steady scanning and editing, I have converted 37 of the best images (10 left undone due to model being not all that hot or the image itself wasn't good for conversion) into beautiful anaglyphic 3D. They really came out great with superb depth. Each one is nice and large now for maximum detail. I also spent time editing out imperfections, like specks. They now all look even better than before in small form. If anyone would like copies, e-mail me. My thanks to Bunny Yeager for putting this book out.

Torn but Impressed......,
By A Customer
This review is from: Peepshow: 1950s Pin-Ups in 3-D (Hardcover)
Well, I'm a pretty politically charged chick, and 100% sick and tired of women being objectified day in and day out, everywhere I look, etc. But I can also appreciate the female form, and was curious as to what this book entailed.....I'm "torn" because yes, it's a bunch of nudie picks for the entertainment of men. BUT I was blown away at the REALNESS of these women. Barely any of the women were skinny, and most would be considered downright fat by today's standards, and yet all were naked, posing. Yeah, in some respects, that STILL means they have low self-esteem, but NOT the same caliber that a thick chick in today's world would have. I mean, these women had no idea their dimpled bods would be considered "flawed" by an entire society, and it's refreshing to see. I picked up a copy for a friend for Xmas. I thought it sort of a totem to self-love for REAL girls. Plus, chicks rule! Overall, a cute idea, if it "has" to be done (which is why I only gave it 4 stars: it's STILL exploitative!) |
