I wrote poetry some years ago. It was a time where puberty hit and the words gave me a vent on life as I knew it at the time, unbearable (lol). As days grew shorter and my age became more aware of the hours gone by, I drifted away from the beautiful imagery of poetic sways.

Typically, I embrace poetry when it is posted on a wall or tweeted among a stream. Therefore, it has been a decade for me to read a page-turner such as `Peer Inside My Soul and See Me'. In this read, you will find yourself quickly wrapped within the lovely display of words and enfolded with the knowledge that it has been far too long to embrace poetry.

Imagery is a hard balance when writing. Too much and you lose readers in detail however with too little there is no true depth. This is not the case here in the verses of De Ann Townes Jr. Within the creases on a profundity, beauty takes hold and you find `Peer Inside My Soul and See Me'.

I'm not a fan of poetry. It's just not something I enjoy reading. But I was looking for something different to read for a change and came across this book. It's a nice little collection of just about all aspects of life, and once I started reading it, I just couldn't put it down. I was surprised at how much I enjoyed it, and I will definitely read more of De Ann's poetry in future.

De Ann is a widely anthologized and award winning poet.
I took the time to read De Ann's book of poems twice. The first time for the sheer pleasure and the second to examine the book more thoroughly.

A well composed, creative book of poetry highlighting the complexity and grace of love. You will sense a sense of camaraderie as you soak in the compelling, captivating, collection of poems. You will enjoy the torrential rain of sensuality that is both stimulating and enriching.

I am a hopeless romantic but if you are not you will be at the end of this book of poetry.
I believe De Ann will remain on par with the elite poets of our time.
This is a book of poetry I will revisit time and again.

Note: I was not paid to do this review; these are my most sincere comments.

I was given this book from the author to give an honest review.

De Ann has talent in writing poems. There were many poems that I could relate to or touched me in a way.
These poems will touch your inner heart.

A couple of my favorite were
" You Are the Artist and Creator of My Masterpiece."
"Killing Me Softly Feels Real Good."
"Today My Child Was Born To Me, Today I Let Him Go." My son is not quite a man yet since he is only 6 but this really touched me as a mother. I know soon I will be able to relate.
"To Live Is...."
"My Love, My Husband, My King To Be In Love So Deeply To Feel Our Love for One Another So Completely... A Dedication to the Man That I Love, the Man of My Dreams, And the Love That We Feel."

A couple of quotes in here that I could relate to were the following:

"So many times in life, what's meant to break you can actually strengthen you. As long as you are willing to take the time, do the work and find that special center core of who you've always been. You will make it through..." Native

"Who you are, is who you will be. Live strong, live honorable, live life..." Native

And the last one
"The strengthening and rediscovery of a relationship between two people in love can be a wonderfully amazing journey..." Native.

I normally do not read poems to review but with this one I gave it a shot and truly enjoyed reading each and every one. I did catch myself going back to one just read it again because it was great.

Peer Inside My Soul and See Me may be by far, the best collection of poems I have ever read on love, reflection and heartbreak. When I read Dark Angels, I was transfixed by the cadence and flow of her thoughts, her gift of describing pain so well, her words vibrating with pure emotion. What a joy to read! 'Killing Me Softly, Feels So Good,' has a mildly erotic flair that will
make you blush, but is superbly written. Page after page, I was astounded at just how many beautiful moving poems De Ann had written, well over a hundred! You will be very pleased with this amazing collection and it deserves five stars and beyond.

I was given this book in return for an honest review. Ok, let's just start with, I usually hate, yes hate, poetry. Not my thing, never has been. I went into this book with the idea of just getting through it so I could post my review. Well to my suprise, I actually enjoyed it. The author is passionate about her poems and you can tell through her poems. They are really good, as far as I can tell not being a poet myself. LOL If you love poetry, this is a must read, and if you aren't a fan of poetry, give this book a try anyways. I think it will suprise you, it suprised me. WaAr

I was given a copy of this book by the author.
This collection of poems talks about love and loss and will touch your soul. There is atleast one poem you can relate to that will pull at your heart strings. Amazing job, thank you.

"While in pride you dwell, and in tears I sit, i'm missing us, do you miss us too?" I feel like this poem was written for me.
