I think many of us approach mounting our megabucks HDTVs to the wall, having visions of it coming crashing down. With so many models of wall bracket, which one do you choose? After some research I found the Peerless website to be helpful in finding the right model to safely hold my specific TV. I am familar with the Peerless brand and felt comfortable buying from them. When it arrived I was pretty surprised to see the small box it was in, I expected some big heavy-duty hunk of steel. This mount is phyically a lot smaller than some others I've seen, but it seems functional and after all, it only has one job which is to hold my TV safely on the wall. The instructions were good and it installed easily. It took about an hour mostly with me being careful to locate the exact center of the studs. Bottom line: it does what it should do. Amazon, as always, delivered sooner than expected and you can't beat the free shipping. My only complaint is the inflated retail price. No way is this mount worth over $200, a realistic price would have been about $25. I would have had to been insane to buy a mount at one of the local stores for $200 - $300.

This tilting wall-mount was a cinch to install (just find your studs!) and is well-made. Note that it is just long enough to cover two adjacent studs, so they need to be in the right place. I wanted the smallest mount I could find so that it wouldn't be as noticeable behind the TV. On my 37in TV, I only had about a inch of horizontal adjustment once it was on the wall, so measure carefully. On a smaller TV, you'd probably have more adjustment.
The "P" in the model (ST640P) means it has normal (I assume Phillips) screws. The ST640 (no P) has tamper-proof Torx screws, but there is a wrench included in the box to use them. Mine was the ST640, and went up with no problems. You don't want to lose the special wrench, however! Overall, I'm very happy--Price, Quality, Ship time.

As a structural engineer I have had to specify TV mounts for health care facilities I have designed in the state of California. Peerless is one of the few manufacturers to have tested mounts for seismic forces and provide pre-approved details (disclaimer: I do not believe they have this certification for this particular mount but generally lighter pieces of equipment do not require it). This gave me confidence in buying from their product line. I know from installing this and the larger version for 52" flat panel that these mounts support quite a bit of weight, provided you get the lag screws into the center of your wood wall studs. I recommend that after you find the stud (using a stud finder, rare earth magnet, whatever you prefer) you take a small finish nail and poke it through the drywall at several locations to get the exact width extents of the stud. Your mount will cover the small holes and doing so will get you more capacity than ever necessary for an LCD (I hung off my larger one prior to putting the TV on it, 200lbs!!).
This particular mount has a zero-force tilt mechanism, meaning the TV is balanced and will not tilt down by itself when the adjustment levers are loosened. It is easy to tilt the TV up (for somewhat better access to cabling) or down as required. I prefer the mounts with the secure Allen wrench screws, which this model has (the other PT models have regular screws). The kit comes with the necessary tool for these and it is the proper length to reach behind the TV depending on the mount. It is just another level of security as the TV is not coming off the wall without the special tool. All in all a great mount, very sturdy, and straight forward installation. Well worth the cost when bought at online prices.
